Several businesses located in the Normandy Fountain Business District inside the diverse neighborhood of North Beach, Miami Beach came together to found a business association for the purpose of growing the local community. The highly walkable business district with 60+ small businesses decided to pool their resources and form a unified voice. At the center of this business district is the historic Normandy Fountain. Through grants and resources, the City of Miami Beach encouraged several community activations over the past year. In the coming year to continue the momentum and in answer to residents’ requests, the local businesses will continue the activations. President of NFBA, David Sexton, stated “North Beach is still developing. There are still opportunities to actually effect the way the community grows and builds. And as a business owner, I feel like it is still small town enough that I know almost everybody. With creating events that pull the community together, I felt like it gave us a sense of belonging. I met people that I hadn’t met before. I dance with people I hadn’t danced with before. Together there is a sense of us guiding our own destiny here.”

The association is pleased to announce their first and quite substantial charitable contribution in the amount of $10,000 from Scott Huizenga through Williams Island Marina. His heartfelt commitment to our local community is inspiring to us all. Photo available. The second charitable donation in the amount of $5,000 comes from Urban Resource, a member of the NFBA.
