Mango’s Tropical Cafe CEO and Founder and local philanthropist David Wallack has recently returned from a week-long trip to Warsaw Poland, to create a partnership with Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) and Mango’s for a Ukraine Crisis Fundraiser, set for Sunday, June 12th at Mango’s South Beach. Wallack plans to raise ongoing a $1,000,000 to help refugees from the war in Ukraine as well as provide relief and supplies into the Ukraine, and presented a beginning contribution of $15,000 to Michael Capponi, Founder and President of Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) in Warsaw, Poland. This benefit event is in collaboration with the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce, the Miami Beach Police Athletic League and Cartel Baggers Autotronics.
Wallack’s vision started a month ago when he woke up and said, “We have to do something to help now,” and called on Michael Capponi and asked “What do you need?” Capponi’s answer was funds to transport the tons of donated supplies already in GEM’s (Global Empowerment Mission) Miami warehouse to the GEM warehouse in Warsaw, Poland. GEM also extracts people from inside the Ukraine to safe shelters in Hungary and Poland. To date, GEM has relocated over 25,000 refugees out of shelters to cities all over Europe. Wallack added, “After spending a week in Warsaw and seeing the work that GEM is doing firsthand, and visiting refugee shelters housing thousands of mainly women and children that had lost everything, I can tell you how important these funds are to the critical work of Michael Capponi and GEM. This is all about saving lives.”
This important benefit event starts at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 12th with a grand cavalcade, sponsored by Cartel Baggers Autotronics and with a police escort, starting from 4176 SW 74th. Court, Miami to Mango’s Tropical Cafe at 900 Ocean Drive. (Participants are invited to join the ride and should contact Ralph Usatorres at 786.409.7833). Tickets for the fundraiser are on sale now at Eventbrite.com for $50.00 per ticket, plus Eventbrite fee. Tickets will also be sold at the door at Mango’s the night of the event. The price includes a full buffet dinner from 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Music by local Miami star Cuban artist DJ LAZ. Guests can then see firsthand in a video about what GEM is accomplishing in Poland to help provide humanitarian aid to many Ukrainian refugees. A Live Auction will follow, with amazing auction items, including David Wallack’s own 2008 candy red Harley Davidson Softail motorcycle with only 3,500 miles, original paintings by world-renowned Haitian and Cuban artists, travel, hotel and spa stays and more. Benefit attendees are invited to stay late night at Mango’s and enjoy the greatest live nightclub Latin dance and magic show east of Las Vegas!
This event would not be possible without the enormous assistance from the Miami Beach Police Athletic League, the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce and Cartel Baggers Autotronics.
