The much-anticipated Mexican Cantina & Bar to bring authentic Mexican cuisine, uniquely crafted cocktails, and party-atmosphere to Miami’s Wynwood Neighborhood

Located in the heart of Miami’s artistic Wynwood neighborhood, Mayami is the newest Mexican Cantina & Bar brought to life by White Feather MGT, the renowned team behind El Patio Wynwood. Set to open on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, the 10,000-square-foot indoor and outdoor restaurant and lounge will transport guests to ancient Maya Civilization with Mayan Revival architecture, traditional Mexican cuisine, upbeat party-atmosphere with Tulum vibes, uniquely crafted cocktails and insect-infused Mezcal shots. Located adjacent to Mayami, White Feather MGT will also open My F***ing Way Chelas & Tacos (MF*W), a fast-casual taqueria scheduled to open in mid-November.

“We are delighted to introduce Mayami to the energetic Wynwood neighborhood,” said Nicolas Hoyos, CEO at White Feather MGT. “This upscale restaurant, bar and music venue is exactly what the area is missing. It’s the perfect spot for locals and tourists to dress up and enjoy traditional, mouth-watering Mexican food, super creative cocktails and Mezcal shots with Mexican flavors, and embrace the new Maya-meets-Miami atmosphere.”

Mayami, which expertly combines the words “Maya” and “Miami” into one, truly embodies its name by fusing the historical Mayan culture with Miami’s trendy, scenic and metropolitan vibe. Upon entering the 200-seat indoor-outdoor restaurant and lounge, guests leave modern day at the door as they enter the sweeping amphitheatre-like room inspired by the Mayan Revivalism of the Art Deco period. Lined with stone sculptures, wood accents and carvings, monumental stairs and traditional mural paintings, the venue features a ziggurat-shaped ceiling replicating the inside of a Mayan Pyramid.

Led by Executive Chef Juan Carlos Flores, formerly at Brickell’s Cantina La Veinte and Coral Gables’ Plomo Tequila & Taco Bar, Mayami will serve a wide variety of authentic regional Mexican dishes made with fresh, artisanal ingredients. Open for dinner, lunch, happy hour and weekend brunch, the menu includes signature dishes such as: Guacalote, made with avocado, corn and queso fresco; Fundidos de Queso with melted chihuahua and gruyere cheese served with choice of rajas, truffle, and seasonal mushrooms; Carnitas de Salmon Tacos with carnitas de salmón, guacamole, and chicharron de mar; Volcan de Res Tacos with bistec, queso, and green onions; and Filete Negro, filet mignon, black lime, pomme puree, and chapulines. The menu also features a wide variety of gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options, which are outlined on the menu, and include Tetela de Berenjena, made with heirloom masa corn, eggplant and maitake mushrooms; Tacos made with sauteed squash, and tempura or sauteed mushrooms; and Aguachile made with roasted tomatoes, smoked cucumber, and chiltepin.

Offering a premier mixology program designed by Beto Perez, Art Director and Mixologist at White Feather MGT, and Esteban Molano, Master Mixologist at Mayami, the cocktail menu will offer fresh Mexican ingredients and feature unique cocktails such as the Blood Moon made with Patron Reposado, Chinola Maracuya Liqueur, and Peanut and Desert Pear Syrup; the Yellow Warrior with Jack Daniels Honey, Ancho Reyes, and Angostura; the Maya Colada with Grey Goose, avocado juice, pineapple juice, coconut cream, and shredded coconut; and the Cazuela Tequilera, served in a large shareable vessel, made with Tequila, exotic citrics, botanical selection, Grapefruit Squirt, and Three Chile Syrup. The restaurant and bar will also be known for its unusual insect-infused Mezcal shots such as the Escorpion

Real, made with scorpions and spices; Mago Maguey, made with worms and herbs; and the Noisy Cricket, with crickets and peach.

Much like El Patio, Mayami will convey an even more upscale, lively and welcoming nightlife environment. The space will showcase an expansive pyramid-shaped bar in the center of the room, and a state-of-the-art DJ booth perched above the multi-level terrazas, surrounded by lush trees, stages and numerous VIP booths. House DJ’s will play day and night spinning Latin beats, reggaeton, and today’s top hits, creating a sensual yet elevated and fun atmosphere. Once a month, Mayami will throw its signature Full Moon parties – bringing the spiritual, beach vibe to Wynwood and offer an artist collective of DJ’s and live performances.

Set to open in mid-November, MF*W is a fast-casual, assembly-line taqueria serving beers, tacos, and an enormous list of toppings prepped fresh daily. Abstracting the colors of the Mexican flag, MF*W designed its interior with high-gloss green wood paneling, red accents, and black and white checkered floors, including indoor and outdoor seating. MF*W self-describes its inspiration and design as “Mexican Eclekitsch.” Combining the words “eclectic” and “kitsch,” eclekitsch is an original movement, morphing diverse Mexican elements to give the brand a fresh, unique look and menu that guests will not find anywhere else.

Mayami is now open for dinner and happy hour Wednesday-Friday from 5 p.m. – midnight and Saturday-Sunday from 4 p.m. – midnight. Happy Hour is Wednesday-Sunday from 5-8 p.m. It’s located at 127 NW 23rd Street, Miami, FL 33127. For more information visit www.mayamiwynwood.com or follow Mayami on Instagram @MayamiWynwood.
