Service to others.  A cause bigger than yourself.

On Memorial Day we honor the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our freedom and our values.

As a veteran of the armed services (CT Army National Guard, 1993-1999) I’ve had the honor of serving alongside some of the finest people in the nation. We were all unique, but we shared a common characteristic: a commitment to serve our country.

These are more than just words to me; some of my colleagues paid the ultimate price while protecting our country during the Iraq wars.  Every day I reflect on their sacrifice, and am reminded that freedom is not free. In order for “a wrong” to become “a right” we must be willing to take action. That sense of service has been with me my whole life, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I am answering the call to service once again. This year I will be on the ballot for Miami Beach Commissioner in Group I.  I am here because of the brave men and women who paved a path for me and others to follow.

I hope you will join me on this journey.   The same spirit that led me to serve at nineteen, calls me to this election now. My commitment to public service is steadfast, because I have seen the power of service in action.

Best wishes for a happy Memorial Day and a very big THANK YOU to all of our past and current service men and women and especially to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”- John F. Kennedy
