Miami Beach: A family friendly destination like no other place in the world

Often defined by world class – and grown-up – culinary offerings, nightlife, culture, fashion, and luxury hotels, Miami Beach also boasts a plethora of familyfriendly activities, attractions, and world class culture for even the littlest residents: family-friendly offerings in a destination like no other place in the world.

For kids that cook, the Kellogg’s Kidz Kitchen during the 2013 South Beach Wine & Food Festival in late February is a mustdo. Children will have the chance to explore the food garden, play sports on the beach, and get their hands messy in the interactive kitchen, all while learning the basics of preparing nutritious meals.

On Lincoln Road Mall, the pedestrianonly promenade and a prime spot for people watching, kids will love an ice-cream sundae or frozen chocolate shake at Serendipity 3 or a yummy hamburger at Shake Shack while watching the parade of puppies and people that walk the length of the mall.

Families will also find lots to do at Flamingo Park in the heart of South Beach. The Park features a large, “interactive” kiddie pool decorated with multi-colored water toys and a slide intended for infants and toddlers, while a larger pool nearby is perfect for older children intent on splashing around. The park also features a playground with swings, slides and monkey bars as well as tennis, basketball and handball courts and a track where families can run and walk together.

In addition, kids and the young at heart will enjoy zipping around Miami Beach via DECOBIKE, the City of Miami Beach’s bike sharing & rental program. An alternative mode of transportation that is healthy, fun, and green, DECOBIKE is a unique way to explore all that Miami Beach has to offer – at any age.

The North Shore Park Bandshell is home to the Miami Beach Food Truck & Music Fest, an event sure to win over even the pickiest eaters. What’s more fun than food from a truck, live music and games? The Bandshell also screens family-friendly films year-round. You can see a movie there or at Miami Beach’s twist on the classic drive-in: SoundScape Cinema. Catch a classic film under the stars at Miami Beach’s SoundScape Park, adjacent to the New World Symphony concert hall at the corner of 17th Street and Washington Avenue. Miami Beach: Everything for everyone in the family.
