MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA – July 20, 2023 – The Miami Beach Botanical Garden is pleased to announce the launch of new health and wellness programming this summer. The Garden’s expanded offerings align with its mission to provide environmental stewardship and sustainability through education, the arts and interaction with the natural world.

Classes and workshops have been developed in partnership with Happy Hearts Yoga Project and its founder Franci Blanco. “Happy Hearts has been providing yoga, meditation and sound bath journeys at the Garden for the last six years so working with them on this project was a natural extension of our relationship. Both our organizations are committed to providing content for the enrichment and enjoyment of our Garden members and the public,” says executive director TL Brown.

The healing power of nature is not simply anecdotal. According to experts studying the connection between nature and wellbeing, the “nurture of nature” is experienced when we immerse ourselves in natural surroundings. Several international researchers have published studies pointing to a variety of health benefits from exposure to nature. These studies conclude that time spent in a garden, whether as a casual visitor or as a participant in specialized horticulture therapy and education programs, can improve mental health and physical wellbeing and that this is to the benefit of individuals and our society.

New programs taking place in July and August include:

  • Somatic Discovery & Conversations class focusing on compassionate communication, somatic awareness, sound healing and breath-centered yoga
  • Conscious Relationships workshop offering practical tools to deepen connections and a mindful approach to dating
  • Reiki, Restorative Yoga and Sound Bath classes to create mind, body and spirit harmony
  • Full Moon Connection focusing on kundalini breathwork, meditation, and shamanic sound
  • Art + Play + Restorative Sound Bath workshop combining watercolor creativity and meditation

Programming will continue to include the well-established Vinyasa Yoga and Sound Bath Meditation classes on Sunday mornings, and Tai Chi classes on Wednesday mornings.

Classes are open to all and Garden members receive a 10% discount on health and wellness programming. (Garden members should call for the online discount ticket code.) For a full schedule of events, the public is encouraged to visit the Garden’s website: www.mbga
