The Miami Beach Chamber Education Foundation, a 501C3 spearheaded by the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce, will continue its commitment to support students within the Miami Beach feeder patterns schools by offering seven scholarships to graduating seniors from Miami Beach Senior High School to continue their education. Chamber Chairman & SVP of Gibraltar Private Bank and Trust Michael S. Goldberg, the Chamber’s Pillar Board Chair DeAnne Connolly Graham, and President & CEO of the Chamber Jerry Libbin presented the college bound seniors with their awards on Wednesday, May 21 at a scholarship ceremony.
“With two children presently attending Beach High and having graduated from Beach High myself, providing opportunities for continuing education is so important to me and I look forward to judging and awarding these scholarships each year,” said Goldberg. “With over a dozen qualified students who applied, the competition was tough and I was thrilled we were able to increase the number of scholarships this year. I wish each of the applicants success in their professional careers and know they will go far.”
Five of the students were awarded Pillar Scholarships from funds raised by the Education Foundation and two scholarships were made possible by AAA Miami Locksmith, and the Paul Linder Family, respectively. One scholarship is specifically reserved for a graduate of the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism in the name of “Mr. Miami Beach”, Michael Aller. A panel of judges reviewed the applications submitted and selected seven extremely qualified young students. The recipients of the 2014 Miami Beach Chamber Education Foundation scholarships were as follows:
