The Miami Beach Chamber of C o m m e r c e (Chamber) has appointed Bart E. Chepenik, partner at Chepenik Trushin LLP, and David E. Sacks, partner at Pathman Lewis LLP, co-chairs of its newly created legal council. The council’s mission is to facilitate communication between the members of the legal community and the Miami Beach community at large in order to increase awareness of the legal issues that impact individuals and businesses. Furthermore, it hopes to identify and create business opportunities between them. The council’s first monthly meeting will be on Tuesday, March 25, at 12:00 pm at the Chamber and will be open to members and the interested public.

Goldberg. “I appreciate Bart and David’s leadership in spearheading this new council as co-chairs and look forward to its success.”
Chepenik’s law practice focuses exclusively in the area of trusts and estates, that is, estate planning, business succession planning, wealth preservation, asset protection planning, charitable planning, as well as probate, trust and guardianship administration and litigation. He is a member of the Real Property Probate & Trust Law Section and Tax Section of the Florida Bar and was most recently named as a “Top Lawyer” in the 2014 edition of The South Florida Legal Guide.
Sacks, who is the Immediate Past Chair of the Chamber’s Pillar Board, practices in the areas of real estate, land use, zoning and environmental law. He provides legal advice for the negotiation and structuring of major land acquisitions, determination of zoning and property rights and entitlements, and due diligence analysis for complex commercial and residential real estate acquisitions including the securing of required development permits and approvals Additionally, Sacks regularly advises clients on large-scale complex real estate matters. He also serves as an adjunct professor at Florida International University, teaching the Legal Environment of Business.
He is a member of the Environmental & Land Use Law Section, Real Property Probate & Trust Law Section, City, County and Local Government Law Section, Administrative Law Section and Government Lawyer Section of the Florida Bar. The South Florida Legal Guide named Sacks a “Top Lawyer” in its 2011, 2012 and 2013 editions, and he was also selected by the Guide as one of “South Florida’s Up and Comers” in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
