Servants Figaro and his promised Susanna prepare for their upcoming wedding, only to find that his employer the Count has impure intentions for her as well. Fearing that the Count will reinstate the ancient First Night rite to rendezvous with her, Figaro sets about scheming to outsmart him. Meanwhile, the lovely Countess, to whom Susanna is ever faithful, begins to suspect the same and devises her own trap to catch him in his mischief. Immerse yourself into the scenes of the opera on a delightful musical journey as the child learns valuable life lessons and faces the consequences of their actions.
Warning: Be advised that this production will incorporate moving projections which may cause vertigo or dizziness in some viewers.
Gianni Schicchi
By Giacomo Puccini
When an old curmudgeon dies, who inherits his fortune? In the aftermath of a wealthy man’s passing, Puccini’s one-act spins the uproarious tale of scheming relatives and one crafty neighbor, Gianni Schicchi. Filled with colorful characters and laced with Puccini’s signature lyrical genius, this opera is an exhilarating rollercoaster of emotions that will have you laughing one moment and on the edge of your seat the next.
Based on a brief reference in Dante’s Inferno, this comic opera showcases a wonderfully verismo ensemble cast singing Puccini’s score full of humorous musical devices and features one of the most memorable arias in the operatic canon, “O mio babbino caro.”
