— City commemorates Black History Month with new committee Including Chamber Members DeAnne Connolly Graham, Gregory Branch & Troy Wright –
The city has announced the creation of a new Miami Beach Black Affairs Advisory Committee (BAAC) led by Chair Glendon Hall and Vice Chair Gregory Branch.
“Diversity and inclusivity are part of what makes Miami Beach an incredible place to live, and every voice in our community needs to be heard,” said Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber.
The BAAC is charged with advising the mayor and Miami Beach City Commission on issues relating to the Black community in Miami Beach and to serve as a resource in the city’s decision-making process.
“The African American/black tourist market is an important visitor population for Miami Beach and through this new Committee, we will explore ways to provide better cultural, recreational, business and other opportunities for this vital tourist base,” noted Miami Beach Commissioner Ricky Arriola.
The members of the committee include Brigitte (“Bibi”) Andrade – BB International Productions, Inc.; Gregory Branch – Veritas Financial Group; Diane (“DeAnne”) C. Connolly Graham – ROI Media Consultants, Inc.; Valerie Crawford – HAVAO Global Consultants; Glendon Hall – an economic development/community redevelopment professional; Nicole Henry – international recording artist; Scherazade Daruvalla King – The Power Company; Henry Williams – performance artist; and Troy Wright – Washington Avenue Business Improvement District.
“We have an impressive group of community members on our committee, and we look forward to collectively addressing issues affecting the Black community in all areas of life and work,” added Interim Miami Beach City Manager Raul J. Aguila. “This is critical to the spirit, well-being and future of our city.”
