Those looking for their film festival fix need look no further: the 34th edition of the internationally acclaimed Miami Dade College’s Miami Film Festival is right around the corner, taking place March 3-12. Featuring 131 films from 40 countries, the line-up includes 22 world & international premieres, as well as some of the most exciting special guests in the Festival’s illustrious history.

It all starts on Opening Night, where lead actor Richard Gere will walk the red carpet at the historic Olympia Theater in Downtown Miami to celebrate the Florida Premiere of his new film Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer. Afterwards, the festivities continue across the street at the Historic Alfred I. Dupont Building with the CHAMPAGNE & STARS Opening Night Party, where champagne will be flowing all night long as the Festival kicks off its ten days of world renowned cinema.

The Festival will close with the International Premiere of the uproarious Spanish comedy For Your Own Good, starring José Coronado, Javier Cámara and Roberto Alamo as three overprotective fathers no suitor would ever want to meet. The film will be followed by the EL COTO RIOJA Awards Night Party at Miami’s Centro Cultural Español, where attendees will enjoy Spanish cuisine, El Coto wine and Stella Artois brews.

But the special guests don’t end with Gere. Among the Festival’s many highlights will be an evening with Spanish actress and Pedro Almodovar muse Rossy de Palma at the Olympia Theater, where Rossy will discuss her film career, as well as treat the audience to a special musical surprise.

Other notable special guests include Parks and Recreation star Rashida Jones, who will be in attendance to talk about her directorial debut on the new Netflix series Hot Girls Wanted: Turned On, based on the 2015 Miami Film Festival hit documentary Hot Girls Wanted. Also visiting this year’s Festival is legendary actor and producer Edward James Olmos, who will be presenting his new co-production, in which he also stars, Monday Nights at Seven.

And in true Miami fashion, the Festival will welcome international superstars Emilio and Gloria Estefan as they make their way back to their hometown for the World Premiere of their new comedy A Change of Heart, directed by Kenny Ortega.

After last year’s incredibly successful introduction of the new Marquee Evenings, the Festival is bringing the special evenings back, this time with a spotlight on two revered directors: Romanian-French director Radu Mihaileanu and Danish filmmaker Lone Scherfig, whose credits include the Oscar-nominated film An Education. Preceding the screening of their respective films The History of Love and Their Finest, the directors will participate in an extended on-stage discussion about their work.

Tickets are now on sale for the 34th Miami Film Festival. To view the full line-up and to purchase tickets, visit miamifilmfestival.com or call 1-844-565-6433.
