Mount Sinai Medical Center marked a significant milestone yesterday with the Topping Out ceremony for the new Irma and Norman Braman Comprehensive Cancer Center, located on its main campus in Miami Beach. This pivotal development has been decades in the making to address the critical need of prompt detection, early intervention, cutting edge treatments and an increased capacity for oncology services.
The ceremony was attended by key figures including Jeanette Rubio, a close family friend of the Braman’s, and representatives from the City of Miami Beach and Miami-Dade County. To commemorate this milestone, the last beam of the building was ceremoniously signed, and will be placed at the top of the new cancer center.
“Opening In early 2026, the Braman Comprehensive Cancer Center will deliver true clinical excellence to the South Florida community,” said Norman Braman, philanthropist, businessman and Lead Donor of the cancer center. “It will allow Mount Sinai physicians to deliver care in a completely patient-centric, high-touch, high-tech environment.”
The Braman Comprehensive Cancer Center, a transformative investment spanning more than 200,000 square feet, was designed to redefine the cancer care experience and provide a holistic treatment process for its patients. It offers a comprehensive range of support services, including nutrition counseling, physical therapy, massage therapy, meditation classes, and a dedicated wellness spa, ensuring that every patient receives care that nurtures both body and mind.
“The Topping Out represents one step closer toward the completion of our critical expansion of high-quality cancer care for South Florida. As our teams continue construction, we continue recruiting expert medical staff and implementing new technologies …all of which will allow us to meet our community’s growing need for more cancer resources,” said Gino R. Santorio, President and CEO of Mount Sinai Medical Center.
The Braman Comprehensive Cancer Center will provide patients with access to a full spectrum of clinical expertise, support services, research opportunities, and cutting-edge technologies, all within breathtaking views of Biscayne Bay. This state-of-the-art facility will deliver expert clinical care in an environment that fosters healing and well-being. Patients can expect an experience centered around comfort, convenience, and the highest level of care.
“Through personalized care and attention, clinical excellence, robust research, and enhanced support services, our expanding, highly skilled medical staff will deliver unmatched expertise to South Florida residents, right in our backyard,” said Barry L. Skolnick, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Mount Sinai Medical Center. “Along with the newest technologies and techniques, the Braman Comprehensive Cancer Center will provide hope to those in our community.”
