Survey reveals visitors flock to land of sun and sand for after dark fun too
Miami Beach has evolved into a sexy, international playground for the world’s elite with famed hoteliers, designers, restaurateurs and celebrities flocking to Miami Beach in recent years, putting it on the map of must-visit vacation destinations for the affluent and fabulous. As a result, the City’s notable nightlife scene has become a major draw. And a recent online survey conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority confirms it. The survey asked over 2,000 U.S. adults why they thought people would choose Miami Beach as their vacation destination. The results reveal that two-thirds of U.S. adults (66%) believe people choose to vacation in Miami Beach for the nightlife. Nearly half of adults surveyed cited the City’s sex appeal and reputation for being a “hot” destination as the driving force for visiting Miami Beach.
Miami Beach is hot. Plain and simple. When the sun goes down, Miami Beach really heats up. Home to nightclub hot spots like LIV, Cameo, Bamboo, Wall, Story, Mansion, FDR and Hyde Beach among many, many others; from poolside parties to seductive soirées, there’s no shortage of nightlife and entertainment packed into Miami Beach’s seven square miles.
Less surprising, the City’s beaches scored high on the survey with more than 84% of the vote. The poll found that the City’s beaches are still as popular as ever and top of mind with consumers. The City’s weather also scored big points – coming in second – with nearly 78% of adults believing people choose to vacation in Miami Beach for the City’s great year-round sunny skies and balmy temperatures.
“The data and results returned by this survey solidify and cement our rather informal take on tourist feedback: They love our beaches and our great weather,” says Jeff Lehman, Chair, the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Bureau. “But it’s interesting to see the rise of nightlife as a major draw and the City’s sex appeal skyrocket. Popular nightclubs, hot hotels and beautiful people have propelled Miami Beach to the top of the vacation consideration set, on par with the South of France, Monaco, Majorca, Barcelona and other sexy seaside destinations around the world.”
Miami Beach boasts seven miles of beaches and has something for everyone. As seen on TV, in magazines and the movies, South Beach attracts a vibrant crowd creating an energy that begins at 1st Street and ends at 23rd Street. South Pointe Park, ideal for families, is home to walking paths, a concession area, and an elevated grassy knoll boasting tremendous 360 degree ocean views, perfect for watching cruise ships sail by. Miami Beach’s central stretch, from 23rd Street to 78th Street, is perfect for the traveler or resident who wants a slower pace but with all the same amenities and excitement as the southern stretch of the island. The northern stretch of Miami Beach is frequented by locals as well as visitors and is by far the quietest of all local beaches. An adjoining park is home to an old fashioned band shell, a popular spot for special events and concerts. The beach is wide and sandy, with concessions and showers.
Miami Beach’s weather, along with its beaches was the motivation for development and production of the upcoming line of Miami Beach branded sunscreen and lotions. The product is set to hit retail stores in January, 2014.
