Now Accepting Entries for the City’s Second Annual Youth Music Festival
In partnership with The Rhythm Foundation, the City of Miami Beach will be hosting its Second Annual Youth Music Festival, and is looking for talent to take center stage at the North Beach Bandshell on Saturday, March 17, 2018.
“This year the festival will be bigger, broader, and even more fun and cool,” shared Miami Beach Commissioner John Elizabeth Alemán. “I was floored last year by the variety and quality of the talent displayed by our local youth musicians in their audition videos last fall. Everyone who made it out to the North Beach Bandshell could see that this is no ordinary talent show; this is a true music festival by very accomplished young musicians. I can’t wait to see the audition videos our local youth bands and solo artists submit!”
Auditions are now open for those aged 18 years and younger, and for bands or individuals that perform live music. Performers must play a musical instrument; recorded music is not allowed. Additionally, at least one individual must be a Miami Beach resident, attend a Miami Beach school or be a child of a City of Miami Beach employee.
New this year, aspiring artists of all ages will have an opportunity to submit designs to be featured on the Festival’s official t-shirt.
Those who wish to audition must submit a video recording (YouTube links encouraged) of up to two songs via email to info@northbeachbandshell.com by Friday, December 15, 2017, at 5 p.m., along with a completed application that can be found at www.northbeachbandshell.com/events/youth-music-festival .
Festival t-shirt design submissions can also be emailed to info@northbeachbandshell.com by the same December 15 deadline.
Bands and individual performers of any musical genre are encouraged to participate. Performers must be able to perform a minimum 10 minute set. Judges include third generation musician Stephen Gibb, music industry executives Rudy and Betsy Perez and founder of The Rhythm Foundation, Laura Quinlan.
Selected youth performers will be announced on or before January 19, 2018.
The Miami Beach Youth Music Festival will include a variety of acts, culminating with a well-known headliner to be announced at a later date.
