GGA Gallery at the Wynwood Walls proudly presents: MANTRA: Metamorphōsis. The first solo exhibition from internationally acclaimed French artist Mantra (also known as Youri Cansell) will feature 14 original never before seen works of art, curated by Goldman Global Arts co-founder Peter Tunney.
Set in a pristine, colorful forest within the GGA Gallery, the exhibition will showcase Mantra’s signature collections of butterflies from around the world. Mantra’s vision for the exhibition was to present an array of his favorite butterflies, a subject he has studied endlessly. Collections range from butterflies found in Mexico, Costa Rica, East and West Coasts of North America Oceania, Africa and Asia. Mantra is equally adept at painting humans as well as animals and insects. His objects are not only spectacularly beautiful but scientifically accurate to the last detail.
Born in Metz, France in 1987, Mantra is a self-taught artist and muralist who has been painting since 2008. He grew up between the noise of the city and the whispers of the surrounding countryside, and his works pay homage to the heroes of his childhood garden in France such as butterflies, owls, spiders and birds in a realistic and lively style. Mantra works to create organic relationships between his subjects and their environments — known around the world for his magnificent murals that combine exquisite colors and enormous detailed subjects — with the intention of leaving his mark in urban areas like repeated mantras; hence his nickname.
Admission to the exhibition and the Wynwood Walls will be complimentary to the public from 6pm to 9 pm by registering at museum.thewynwoodwalls.com. A special Artist Talk with Mantra will begin at 8 pm sharp and will be moderated by Steven Harrington and Jaime Rojo of Brooklyn Street Art and Curator Peter Tunney.
Wynwood Walls located at 266 NW 26th St, Miami, FL 33127. For more information about GGA Gallery and Mantra: Metamorphōsis, please visit museum.thewynwoodwalls.com or ggagallery.com
