On April 21, 2023, Rum Room hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the official grand opening of the new and exciting restaurant and event space in the heart of Miami Beach. Rum Room is an impressive 80-seat restaurant that offers a unique combination of Old World and tropical 1920s Florida themes, creating a memorable and elegant atmosphere. The restaurant is led by Executive Chef Samantha Cruz, who draws inspiration from Florida’s history and Miami’s Haitian, Latin, and Central American influences to create a delicious upscale menu made with indigenous Florida and Spanish ingredients. Additionally, the restaurant features an intimate event space next door called Venu, which can host a flexible indoor-outdoor configuration of up to 200 guests. Rum Room is located in the historic Miami Beach Clubhouse on the campus of the Miami Beach Convention Center.

“We are excited to breathe new life into this historic building and offer a fresh dining experience to locals and visitors alike,” said Danny Medina, Regional Vice President for Sodexo LIVE!. “With our rich cultural heritage, history, and cuisine, we hope to create a dining destination that celebrates the best of Miami’s past and present.”

The event was attended by City of Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber, Commissioners Laura Dominguez and David Richardson, CCAB Chair Larry Herrup, GMCVB CEO and President David Whitaker, City of Miami Beach staff, many other local dignitaries, clients, neighbors, and the Miami Beach Convention Center teams from Sodexo Live!, OVG360, Smart City Networks, Everlast Productions, and First Class Parking. Danny Medina, Regional Vice President Sodexo Live!, welcomed the guests. Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber made a celebratory opening speech, followed by remarks from Miami Beach City Manager Alina T. Hudak, which were followed by closing remarks from Freddie Peterson, General Manager of Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC). Mayor Gelber, Commissioner Laura Dominguez, Commissioner David Richardson, City Manager Alina T. Hudak, Assistant City Manager Rickelle Williams, David Martinez, Danny Medina, Freddie Peterson and Eliu Escobar, conducted the ribbon-cutting ceremony, which commemorated the opening. After the ceremony, guests were able to sample a few of the menu’s inspired highlights at the cocktail reception.

“We’re thrilled to see the historic Carl Fisher Clubhouse brought back to life through the restoration of the Rum Room and Venu. This oldest public building, now over 100 years old, has been given a new lease on life as a restaurant and event space, providing a unique venue for locals and visitors to meet, convene, and enjoy the best of Miami Beach. The Rum Room and Venu are beautiful additions to our city and we look forward to seeing the space thrive for years to come,” said City of Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber.

Rum Room opens to the public on Saturday, April 22, 2023. The restaurant will be open
