On November 5th the voters of the City of Miami Beach decided on a new mayor. Phil Levine was the only candidate for the City Commission who was voted into office in a vote that required a mandatory recount at 50.48%. All other races will now be part of a run-off election, and there isn’t much time to decide – elections are next week.
The City is anxious to hear from Mayor- Elect Levine about how he will implement his plans with the City Administration. Much will depend on the outcome of the run-off election and the successfully elected commissioners. The Miami Beach Community News will be tracking the progress.
All questions on the ballot passed by a wide margin, on that the voters were very decisive.
Critical to the City will be getting the voters to turn out for another election on Tuesday November 19th. It is important to remember that although there are many registered voters on Miami Beach, the outcome of the election is the will of only those that actually punch the ballot – everyone is encouraged to exercise their right to a voice in leadership by voting.
A date to remember – November 14th, Last Day to Contribute to a Campaign Prior to the Run-Off Election per Florida Statute. Early Voting will be on Saturday November 16th and Sunday November 17th from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Miami Beach City Hall, First Floor Conference Room, 1700 Convention Center Drive and North Shore Branch Library, 7501 Collins Avenue.
Free Parking at City Hall if you go there to vote at the P-Lot, located north of City Hall and west of the Miami Beach Convention Center. Entrance on 18th street between Meridian Avenue and Convention Center Drive. Be sure to notify the parking attendant that you will be voting.
You must have a current and valid identification that contains your name, photograph and signature. Remember to try to bring your Voter Information Card, it will expedite the process.

GROUP 2 – Commissioner Jorge Exposito and Michael Greico.
GROUP 3 – Mayor Matti Bower and Joy Malakoff.
The Miami Beach City Commission has a lot to undertake in the coming year with the rising tides, infrastructure issues, convention center redevelopment plans, and the City Departments with new leadership.
