On Behalf of the Miami Beach Chamber’s Board of Governors, its members and staff, the Chamber wants to express our deepest condolences on the passing of Miami Beach Commissioner and Chamber Board Member Mark Samuelian.
Mark was such an instrumental member of our Board of Governors since joining in 2018 and serving honorably under three Chairs of the Board. His leadership and thoughtful recommendations as a board member will be missed.
“As a City Commissioner, Mark served his constituents with integrity and put the City first in everything that he did, “ said Chair of the Miami Beach Board Aaron Tandy. “From advocating on issues regarding sea level rise to playing chess with local children, we are all fortunate to have had him serve our City. Since education was dear to his heart, the Chamber has made a donation to the Chamber’s Education Foundation in his name.”
Born in Boston, Samuelian was the first member of his family to earn a college degree, graduating cum laude from Georgia Tech with an engineering degree and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
He combined the skills of a seasoned business executive with the experience of a proven community leader and brought three decades of business experience to the City Commission as a former partner at the professional services firm Accenture.
“The City of Miami Beach lost a great champion today,” added Miami Beach City Manager Alina T. Hudak. “I consider myself fortunate to have worked alongside Commissioner Samuelian, who made it his mission to help the residents of this city day in and day out.”
Samuelian served on the Board of Directors for the Miami-Dade Beacon Council, and was an Advisory Board Member of the World Affairs Council of Miami. He was also a past president of Miami Beach United.
Commissioner Samuelian is survived by Laura Dominguez, his life partner, whom he met in 2012.
