Colombian frozen delight and dessert destination adds new menu items and coffee
Miami based Colombian inspired oasis, Amazonica has recently opened their latest outpost in the city’s financial district, Brickell. In 2018, the tropical treat paradise made their debut at Upper Buena Vista’s outdoor sanctuary and now has locations in Aventura Mall and New Jersey. To celebrate their recent opening, all visitors can enjoy any complimentary coffee beverage with purchase from the new location throughout summer. Amazonica Brickell marks the fourth location for the brand and 29-year-old owner and visionary, Ammiel Manevich.
“We wanted to expand to Brickell because we believe this neighborhood is the beating heart of Miami,” shared Manevich. The Colombian native and Miami local added, “It has a very interesting mix of local residents, executives, young professionals, tourists, etc. and in the midst of surrounding an ‘urban jungle’ we want them to be able to escape into our little oasis where they can relax and refuel with a cup of coffee or enjoy a refreshing Cholado after a long day.”
Inspired by his Colombian background and childhood memories, Manevich wanted to create a vibrant paradise where people could unwind and enjoy a refreshing and fueling treat. Partnering with Colombian celebrity chef Julian Hoyos, Executive Chef of Restaurante El Silo the duo developed an innovative spin on nostalgia street-food including the refreshing icy beverage, Cholados ($9.99) and sweet stuffed wafers known as, Obleas (starting at $4.95). Cholados are an
exotic ice-cold treat served in a cup layered with shaved ice, homemade fruit puree, fresh fruit topping and condensed milk. The most popular Cholados include the Paradise made with a mixed berry base and topped with fresh slices of apple, mango, pineapple, strawberries, bananas, condensed milk and a wafer cookie. For something more whimsical, curious palates can try
the Guavamaria Cholado which is an ode to Miami blended with guava and topped with strawberries, ice cream, condensed milk, maria cookies, guava paste and dulce de leche or a Cookies and Cream Oblea stuffed with oreos, white chocolate, rice krispies and whipped cream.
From breakfast to dessert, this quick service destination offers something for every craving. Featuring a tropical Latin vibe, the menu features baked goods like empanadas, guava pastries, tequenos and pandebono which is a traditional bread made of cassava and cheese. Amazonica also uses Devoción coffee sourced from Colombia where beans are roasted and toasted within 10 days. Health-conscious eaters can also enjoy Acai Bowls ($12.99), fruit bowls ($7) and juice ($8.99). New dishes include a Mango Limonada ($7.99) and a special edition Oblea filled with the chocolate and hazelnut wafer snack, Pirulin ($7.50).
More dessert options range from a jarred Tres Leches ($10) to Marquesa de Milo ($10) which is a traditional Latin American pudding layered with sweet condensed milk, crackers and Milo chocolate powder. Loyal fans can also bring home frozen delicacies like pandebono (12 for
$12.99) and empanadas (20 for $23.99). Most recently, Amazonica also collaborated with Chef Henry Hané of Wynwood restaurant Jatto, creating a Black Forest Oblea, which was recently recognized by Michelin Guide.
The new Brickell location honors the brand’s environmentally conscious beliefs striving to be 100% Eco-Friendly. Amazonica uses PET recycled cups, paper straws, bamboo spoons and plates. Their Brickell outpost is located at 1250 S Miami Ave Suite 601, Miami, FL 33130.
