For Coach Kevin Mujica and high school senior Isabella Sosa, playing flag football is like breathing air.
Sosa is so good that she was one of 20 girls chosen to play the first US Army Bowl game on December 18, where the Miami Palmetto Senior High School student will showcase her talents in the Girls Flag Football Tournament. The US Army Bowl is being held in Frisco, Texas, where the Dallas Cowboys play.
“Making the first female US Army Bowl game is truly life changing and I hope to inspire many other young girls,” Isabella said. “This is the start of something special and I get to be a part of it.”
Mujica is not only the girls flag football coach at Palmetto, but he is also a coach for South Florida Elite, a traveling flag football program out of Doral that also benefits from Sosa’s talents.
“Isabella Sosa being selected for the first ever US Army Bowl is a step forward to where this sport is going,” Coach Mujica said. “Her hard work and dedication speaks for itself.”
In January 2024, Mujica and Sosa will also travel to Orlando to compete in the NFL FLAG Championships at NFL Pro Bowl Games.
