In honor of the remarkable boxing match with (formerly known as) Cassius Clay and Sonny Liston that was seen and heard around the world on February 25th, 1964, Washington Ave BID, the organization that has helped revitalize this South Beach area, is set to produce commemorative events and an exhibition from February 23rd-April 1st, 2024, in partnership with the Smithsonian’s HistoryMiami Museum. The VIP opening night, February 22nd, is hosted by Sam Moore, who was named “The Greatest Living Soul Singer” by Bruce Springsteen. Featured within this show, is a special art exhibit featuring “Soul Man & The Champ”, honoring the 6 decades of the friendship between Sam Moore and Muhammad Ali, and how it all started in Overtown.
The extravaganza is curated by Troy Wright, a powerhouse organizer, and Executive Director of Washington Ave BID, as Washington Avenue holds a special place in the history of the fighter’s illustrious career. An empty 8000 square feet oasis, will be transformed into an immersive exhibition timeline, providing an historic insight into the life of Muhammad Ali.
A first look for media will take place on February 22 at 10 a.m. Confirm your attendance and parking instructions by contacting Lisa Mozloom at lisa@m.network. The exhibition is located at 555 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach.
The VIP Invitation Only Opening Night is February 22nd, 7pm.
