Founded in 2018, Alto is the first employee-based, on-demand rideshare company rethinking a traditionally inconsistent, gig-based industry. By hiring vetted, uniformed drivers and managing a dedicated fleet of 5-star crash rated luxury SUVs, Alto offers the safest, most consistent, and personalized passenger experience on the market today. Alto classifies its drivers as W-2 employees, provides in-depth training, manages its owned vehicle fleet and brings advanced logistics and optimization to the ridesharing ecosystem. Setting the standard in cleanliness in the rideshare industry, Alto cleans and disinfects vehicles with EPA-registered disinfectants between every ride and shift. Alto leads the industry in in-car experience. The Alto app acts as a passengers “remote control” to their ride, including the ability to set the “vibe” (music and conversation preferences) and control the lights of the car for easy identification. Currently available in Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Washington D.C., and San Francisco, Alto has plans to bring its elevated rideshare experience to even more cities in the future. What’s New
Alto has announced the regional locations of its upcoming electric infrastructure hubs that will service its future fleet of electric vehicles (EV’s): San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Houston, Miami, Dallas, and Washington DC.
Alto’s investment in fully-owned fleet charging infrastructure supports a transition to EVs for a more sustainable rideshare industry. The momentum for Alto continues following expansion to new markets this year and Alto’s $45 million Series B fundraise last summer from Franklin Templeton, Tuesday Capital, and Goff Capital. Alto plans to become the nation’s first vertically integrated, 100-percent electric ride-hail fleet with more than 3,000 EVs by the end of 2023.
As tech-forward rideshare has become increasingly the norm, Alto has used proprietary telematics technology to get ahead in building for an autonomous future. Because the company owns and maintains its entire fleet, Alto vehicles gather data with every ride, building a catalog of real time traffic and geographical information that is being used to prepare for autonomous rideshare technology. Alto has chosen to launch its electric hubs in these cities due the wealth of knowledge its vehicles have gained over the years servicing riders in these regions. Through a differentiated business model, where every Alto driver is considered an employee, Alto is shaping the future of mobility.
