Discovering Design: Architecture – Join us for a free family day to explore the wonder of architecture at The Wolfsonian-FIU! Kids and adults will explore how different architectural fragments found their home at the museum. Be transported with a beautifully animated film about an unlikely friendship in Paris, take a guided tour of the galleries, and create your own brilliant architectural ideas with artist Felicia Chizuko Carlisle.

What do you need to create a cool structure? Straws, triangles, and a little inspiration from Buckminster Fuller and a local artist. Families will work with local artist Felecia Chizuko Carlisle to create Buckyball sculptures during this hands-on workshop.

Felecia Chizuko Carlisle, a native Floridian, received her MFA from the New Genres department at San Francisco Art Institute, in 2006. She has explored a variety of contexts for her work including television in Madrid, Spain, and Moab, Utah; nightclubs in Hamburg, Germany and San Francisco; and has shown in various national and international galleries, museums, and public spaces. Upcoming exhibitions include Locust Projects, Miami and Riverside Art Center in Chicago. Her work functions between dimensions, traversing disciplines such as performance, installation, sound, design, architecture, sculpture, and photography. Her work is part of the Martin Z. Margulies Collection in Miami, FL. Carlisle is a current artist in residence at Cannonball in Miami.
