Relay For Life

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Miami Beach gives everyone in the community a chance to help the organization save lives and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays.  Register your team today by visiting www.relayforlife.org/miamibeachFL or by calling 305-779-2875.

Former and current cancer patients, those who have lost a loved one to cancer, families, businesses, faith-based and civic organizations, and anyone wanting to make a difference in the fight against cancer are invited to take part in this exciting team event.

Take the story of Relay For Life veteran, Jorge Aguilar.  Jorge has a bright future in front of him.  Born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, he moved to Miami Beach 12 years ago.  The 19-year-old is currently studying Mass Communication at Miami Dade College.  One day he wants to work in television news as a writer. But it was never clear that Jorge would have a future.  As a child, he had two surgeries to remove brain tumors.  Both procedures were successful and as a result, his cancer has been in remission for ten years.  Last year, one of Jorge’s teachers at Miami Beach Senior High told him about Relay for Life.

As a cancer survivor, Jorge believes Relay For Life is a good cause with which to associate himself.  He enjoyed the event last year and plans to attend this year’s Relay for Life event in Flamingo Park.

Relay For Life events are team based events.  Teams can be formed by anyone for the purpose of fundraising to fight cancer.  Teams do most of their fundraising prior to the event, but some teams also hold creative fundraisers at the event. Relay For Life brings together the entire community together aimed at furthering the efforts of the American Cancer Society to save lives by helping people stay well, by helping people get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back.  Join us at 10am on May 2nd, 2015 until 10pm at Flamingo Park in Miami Beach.

The American Cancer Society saves lives and creates more birthdays by helping people stay well, by helping people get well, by finding cures and by fighting back. For more information, contact the American Cancer Society at 1-800-227-2345 or visit us at cancer.org.
