Letter from the Chair

Letter from the ChairAt the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce, we like to recognize special individuals that are doing great things in the community and making a difference. On that note, the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce its 2016 Women in Business Award (WIB) presented by the Women’s Business Council, Chaired by Rona Rose Witek (Tropic Survival Advertising & Marketing).

To qualify, the nominee must own or lead a fast-growth business, foster civic responsibility, stand out as a leader in their community, empower and mentor other women, support the growth of women’s businesses and be steadfast in their quest to do so. The nomination process is open to members and non members of the Chamber. The WIB Award will be presented at the Champions of Business Award Luncheon in January 2016.

Additionally, the Miami Beach Chamber Education Foundation is now accepting applications for 2016 Teacher grants. On average, teachers spend hundreds of dollars of their own money to improve their classroom during a school year. Started last year as a new initiative by the Miami Beach Chamber Education Foundation, the Links Project provides teacher grants (up to $1,000) to provide the necessary supplies to teachers throughout the entire Miami Beach School feeder pattern.

To apply, you must be a teacher at Miami Beach Senior High School, Nautilus Middle School, Biscayne Elementary Community School, Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor K-8 Center, North Beach Elementary, South Pointe Elementary, Treasure Island Elementary or Fienberg Fisher K-8 Center. Also, teachers must obtain an authorization signature from their Department Chairperson and School Principal.

For details on the WIB award and/or the teacher grants, call the Chamber at 305-674-1300 for more information and forms to apply.

Sincerely,

Michael S. Goldberg
