NATASHA TONIC

 

Swimwear designer Natasha Tonic debuted her Yin & Yang collection during Miami Swim Week 2019 on Thursday, July 11th, 7PM at the PARAISO Tent, located in Collins Park. The show featured 25 looks from the Resort 2020 collection, including one-pieces and bikinis that can double up as lingerie, bodysuits or athleisure, as well as dresses, and jumpsuits. This collection uses hemp as the main fabric for swim wear and raw silk, cupro, and linen for dresses and cover-ups, which is inspired by nature’ s balance of good vs. bad.

 

CIA. MARITIMA

 

On Friday, July 12th, Brazil’s most sought-after swimwear and resortwear brand Cia. Maritima hosted a private Sunset Beach Party at the W South Beach to kick-off Miami Swim Week 2019 with SI supermodels Camille Kostek, Olivia Culpo, Danielle Harrington, and Hamila Aden joined by top male model Tyson Beckford and elite Brazilian influencers Julia Muniz and Laura Costa who snapped photos on personalized Cia. Maritima Polaroid cameras in front of a summer themed all-natural palm tree backdrop.

 

The beach bash included a swim presentation featuring the latest pieces from the Tropics Summer 2020 collection inspired by florals in the Caribbean and bright colors in Central America highlighting vibrant butterflies on many of the prints. Also on display was the new Life Print collection in which Cia. Maritima partnered with AMPARA to create the first ever certified Jaguar animal print pledging to donate 100% of profits to help preserve the endangered species.

LULI FAMA

 

The internationally known swimwear brand Luli Fama showcased their new, bold, daring and exciting 2020 collection Luli’s Electric Jungle during Miami Swim Week 2019 at The Paraiso Tent at Collins Park on July 13th at 8PM revealing their interpretation of a modern jungle. Animal prints are a Luli staple and this collection takes this to another level with bold colors and electric neon’s in the mix.

 

Textured fabrics are at the forefront of these new looks and are the perfect accent to these sexy and sophisticated silhouettes. Offering the signature ruched back bottoms, reversible pieces, underwire bandeaus, plunging necklines, and high-cut legs, the new suits exude Luli Fama’s signature Latin style, while also introducing an unprecedented level of exuberance.

BECCA BY REBECCA VIRTUE

 

BECCA by Rebecca Virtue will debuted the Cruise 2020 collection, Into The Wild, together with accessories designer Kendra Scott during Miami Swim Week 2019 on Saturday, July 13 at 8:30 PM at The Setai Miami Beach. The show featured 27 looks, including one-pieces, bikinis and cover-ups in a color palette ranging from neutral solids to trending neons, as well as contrasting chevrons, tropical-inspired patterns and, in true Miami style, bold animal prints such as leopard and zebra.  The collection features cut-outs, cross-back detailing, high leg and convertible designs, as well as fabrics and embellishments such as crochet, mesh, tassels and fringe.

BADGLEY MISCHKA

 

Badgley Mischka, the iconic American design house that exemplifies timeless glamour, launched its newest swimwear collection on the runway at The W Hotel South Beach, on July 13th, during Miami Swim Week. The Badgley Mischka Swimwear collection featured both men’s and women’s swimwear with an elegant couture design and classic silhouettes all infused with the signature details the brand is known for.

 

The women’s collection included a total of 30 pieces that ranged from gorgeous ruffled one pieces, high-waisted bikinis with beading, to elegant solid string bikinis in two-tone reversible colors. The men’s collection included 10 pieces that are crafted from technical swim twill. This fabric provides ultimate comfort with a looper back construction and protection against the elements with a water resistant finish. The design reflects a fresh design silhouette that features bright Caribbean inspired prints and attention to details like custom hardware, unique rivets, and colorful drawstring cords.

WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND

 

On Sunday, July 14th What Goes Around Comes Around and the 1 Hotel South Beach celebrated sustainable fashion at the famed eco-friendly hotel’s rooftop. Influencers and guests of the hotel joined hosts Claudia VergaraCarolina Lindo of I’m Not Sorry Darling and Joy Corrigan for an intimate cocktail and shopping experience filled with a curated selection of the finest luxury vintage inspired by the energy of Miami. All attendees sipped on craft cocktails by Yaguara Cachaca as they perused the collections, which featured rich hues, light fabrics and classic luxe staples.

POEMA SWIM

 

Poema Swim designers and mother-daughter duo Pamela Mendeita and Morea Arbulu debuted their You Run The World collection during Miami Swim Week 2019 on Sunday, July 14th at 5PM at the Paraiso Tent in Collins Park. The show featured 30 looks, including one-pieces with both minimal and full coverage, multi-purpose bikinis, and cover-ups in mixtures of pink hues, sable tones and floral prints, as well as ruffles and crochet, all using fabric from Italy and Spain. Collections showcased included Resort 2020, Spring 2020 inspired by Positano  in Italy’s Amalfi Coast, and Festival 2020, which featured ribbed white and yellow bikinis with coconut shell buttons. All Poema Swim styles are hand made in South Florida.

BAES & BIKINIS

 

Baes & Bikinis swimwear designer Stephanie Princi will be debuting her Haute Couture II Collection during Miami Swim Week 2019 on Sunday, July 14th, at the PARAISO Tent, located in Collins Park. The show featured 45 looks ranging from one-pieces and bikinis, to cover-ups and beach-chic ready-to-wear apparel. Similar to the 2018 Haute Couture collection, this line included a color palette of black, red, white and navy blue. However, the new collection was also filled with bright colors and clashing neons commanding the runway, with fabrics consisting of sequins, taffeta, silk and satin.

 

SPORTS ILLUSTRATED SWIMSUIT

 

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit hosted the 2019 runway show during Miami Swim Week on July 14th at 10PM at the W South Beach. The runway showcased a lineup of women who stand for important issues donning socially conscious swimwear looks by designers who encourage and promote sustainability, inclusivity and philanthropy.

The runway show opened with hijab wearing model, Halima Aden in a custom designed burkini by Cynthia Rowley that read “DON’T CHANGE YOURSELF, CHANGE THE GAME”, setting the tone for the show. Other models who walked the runway include: 2019 Model Search Winner, Brooks Nader, 2019 Cover Model Camille Kostek, Halima Aden, Jasmine Sanders, Kate Bock, Robin Holzken, Vita Sidorkina and Model Search Finalists, Ariadna Gutierrez, Ashley Alexiss, Brielle Anyea Cunningham, Christie Valdiserri, Clarissa Bowers, Courtney Smits, Djaniel Carter, Florinda Estrada, Hyun Joo (JooJoo) Hwang, Jamea Byrd, Kathy Jacobs, Katina Taylor, Miki Hamano, Nour Guiga, Salina Jade, Soraya Yd, and Tanaye White.

 

Additional designers featured on the runway included Abruzzo Swim, Acqua De Luxe, Alexiss, Andi Bagus, Antigua Swimwear, Badgley Mischka, Bissy Swim, Boohoo, CALi DREAMiNG,   Fashion Nova, For Love and Lemons, Frankies Bikinis, Fredericks of Hollywood, GabiFresh, Kasa Kai, KRELwear, Krewe Du Q, Luli Fama, MegLiz Swimwear, Melao, Meshki, Mikoh, Mira Zadeh, Natasha Tonic, Norma Kamali, Ola Vida Swimwear, O’Neill, Paul and Rade, Poemä Swim, Port de Bras, Siempre Golden, Swimsuits for All and Vitamin A Swim.

 

Leading up to the runway show, SI Swimsuit held their annual open casting call at the W South Beach on Friday, July 12. Models from this year’s SI Swimsuit issue mentored interviewed and deliberated with the model search contestants to help them throughout the process. The SI Swimsuit team selected 16 Model Search Finalists who graced the runway alongside the 2019 Model Search Winner and fellow SI Swimsuit models.
