Miami Swim Week returned this year with a vengeance: scores of fashion shows, bronzed models, exclusive fêtes, and seaworthy designer creations overtook South Beach. In honor of this sacred week-long homage to the fashion world, the internationally established Nikki Beach, spanning from Miami Beach to Mallorca with locations in eight countries and ten cities, proudly presented SPF (“Sand•Play•Fashion”) weekend as part of its exclusive What Women Want monthly fashion series.

A casually chic outdoor fashion show was the highlight of Saturday evening’s “Global Dinner Experience” on July 21st, featuring a sand-set runway amidst the venue’s signature white beach cabanas. Bedazzled mermaids suspended mid-air and hoop dancers complete with a live saxophonist made for quite the fashion statement.

Donning beachwear clothing lines by Strong Boalt, Qiss Qiss, Lila Nikole, We Love Colors, and AZ Araujo, models cascaded down the runway to the music of DJ Miss Tara, who sported an equally sunworthy look in a signature pastel pink bra and torn tee. An eclectic array of designs entranced the audience from start to finish: bold animal prints, South Beach worthy neon hues, and edgy one and two pieced cutouts. Island-themed wood and beaded necklaces paired with oversized bangles and stilettos made for an atypical yet refreshingly unique swimwear showcase. Sheek hair and makeup styling was provided by Safar Coiffure.

Staying true to its emphasis on beauty and sweets in addition to fashion, this What Women Want event featured delicious baked goods by the New York based Lee & Marie’s Cakery Company, as well as goodie bags filled with beach-inspired products like Palmer’s soothing cocoa butter and Nikki Beach handheld electric fans. Chilled sangria kept guests from going thirsty in the heavy Miami heat; amusing tropical props provided for the indoor photo op kept them smiling all night long. Equal parts fashion and fitness, the SPF affair was also sponsored by Equinox Fitness Club and Miami Kite boarding.

“Fashion, along with entertainment, dining, art and music are the core components of the Nikki Beach brand so each year, we eagerly look forward to Miami Swim Week and to our annual SPF event,” said Lisa Hollister of the Nikki Beach marketing team. “This year in partnership with Equinox Fitness Clubs, renowned designers Strong Boalt, Qiss Qiss, We Love Colors, Lila Nikole, and AZ Araujo all created amazing beachfront fashion shows here at Nikki Beach Miami. It was such a fun weekend and a good time was had by all!”
