Miami-Dade Animal Services has launched an app that’s all about saving the lives of the shelter’s pets. The free app is called Miami Pets and it puts the shelter’s cats, dogs, puppies and kittens in palms of potential adopters’ hands. The Miami Pets app is available as a free download from iTunes for the iPhone and Google Play for the Android version.
With the Miami Pets App users can:
- Search and share pet photos and information through email and social media to help take that first step in the adoption decision.
- Search and save favorites and have them easily available when they come into the shelter to adopt.
- Search for and find a lost pet that may have been brought to the shelter.
- Help save the lives of shelter pets by networking them through social media.
The Miami Pets app also offers information about low cost spay/neuter services, lost and found, dog license tags, general contact information and links to the events calendar and the latest Animal Services news releases. There’s also a directory of dog parks, veterinarians, pet friendly hotels and neighborhood pet adoption centers. A special postcard feature lets users photograph their pets and frame them in an email postcard to send right from their smartphones.
“With this mobile app we are keeping up with the way people are accessing information and services by moving more towards the use of mobile devices,” said Alex Muñoz, Director of Miami-Dade Animal Services. “We hope the convenience of being able to search and see the pets at the shelter will result in more adoptions, more reunions of lost pets with their owners, and ultimately more lives saved.”
