Miami-Dade Animal Services celebrates one-year anniversary of new Pet Adoption and Protection Center

Miami_Dade_Animal_Shelter_2016_Entrance-greenOn Tuesday, June 13, 2017 the new Miami-Dade County Animal Services Pet Adoption and Protection Center celebrates the first-year anniversary of its move to the new building located at 3599 NW 79 Avenue in Doral, FL 33122.

To mark the one-year anniversary, Animal Services will offer one dollar ($1) adoptions for all pets, including puppies! The $1 adoption fee includes spay or neuter surgery, rabies and booster vaccinations if age appropriate, deworming and microchip. Exceptions to note: to comply with Florida law, a $27 license must be purchased for all dogs adopted. Puppies and kittens too young for spay/neuter surgery at time of adoption, are subject to a refundable spay/neuter deposit.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., visit our main lobby for festive family interactive activities that include: face painting, storytelling and a DIY pet toy creation table.

Since its opening last June, over 28,000 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens have been sheltered and cared for in a building designed as a model of best practices in animal housing. The new building and its surroundings offer a comfortable environment for the animals and pleasant surroundings that help to showcase pets and improve their chances of adoption.

“Our one year anniversary marks another milestone in our progress towards making Miami-Dade County a no-kill community,” said Animal Services Director, Alex Muñoz. “The new shelter building and location offer more opportunities to attract more adopters and attract new audiences for our life-saving programs,” he added.
