Grand Opening will Unveil State-of-the-Art Tech Hub for Miami Youth

Big Brothers Big Sisters Miami (BBBS) is proud to announce the grand opening of the Allen Family Teen Tech Center taking place on Thursday, March 26, 2026 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. The event marks the debut of a transformative community resource designed to bridge the digital divide and foster the next generation of Miami’s creative and technical talent.

      Event Details:

      • WHO: The Allen Family and Gale Nelson, President & CEO, BBBS Miami
      • WHAT: Grand Opening for the Allen Family Teen Tech Center.
      • WHEN: Thursday, March 26, 2026 | 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
      • WHERE: Big Brothers Big Sisters Miami, 550 NW 42nd Ave, Miami, FL 33126

Through a generous donation from the Matt & Lisa Allen Family Foundation, the center provides youth with free, year-round access to cutting-edge technology, professional mentorship, and career-readiness training. Designed to inspire creativity, the space is equipped with state-of-the-art tools including digital drawing tablets, a 3D printer, screen-printing equipment, gaming and creative design computers, a DJ recording and music production studio, VR headsets, and even a flight simulator.

The center is also a member of The Clubhouse Network, a global community of more than 100 high-tech creative learning environments for underserved teens. In partnership with the MIT Media Lab, through this expansive network youth are empowered to explore their interests in STEM while building confidence, creativity, and critical skills for the future.

      Gale Nelson

BBBS President & CEO Gale Nelson comments “We cannot thank Matt & Lisa and the Allen Family enough for their valued partnership. Our Littles now have access to the best tools and experiences that ignites creativity and open doors to endless possibilities. It’s all about that spark of imagination that leads to BIG things, and we’re so excited to provide a place where they can explore, create, and dream bigger than ever”

“We are incredibly proud to support Big Brothers Big Sisters Miami as inaugural partners in launching the Allen Family Teen Tech Center,” said Matt and Lisa Allen. “Our goal is to help create a space where young people can explore their creativity, build critical skills, and imagine new possibilities for their futures. We hope this investment not only empowers Miami’s youth, but also inspires other corporate and community partners to join us in expanding access to transformative opportunities like this across our community.”

What to Expect at the Launch Event

Members of the media are invited to join BBBS executives, community leaders, tech innovators, elected officials and the Allen family for an exclusive first look at the facility.

       The evening will feature:

      • Live Demonstrations: Teens showcasing 3D printing, robotics and graphic design.
      • Studio Sessions: State-of-the-art music and video production suites.
      • Keynote Remarks: Insights from Gale Nelson on what the center means for the youth, remarks by Matt & Lisa Allen on the center’s support of social and cultural growth in Miami-Dade County and brief comments by Lisa Cook, Executive Director of The Clubhouse Network about the role of MIT’s Media Lab.
