Safety First
The City Council and I are looking ahead to provide the best services we possibly can to our residents. We’re still being cautious with our reopening protocols to ensure the City is open to serve everyone’s needs, while still keeping health and safety as priorities.

Miami Gardens is continuing to adhere to COVID-19 standards per the CDC guidelines. The City continues to remind everyone to use the tools that are available to lower the risk of contracting this virus and also encourages our residents to get vaccinated. The more people are vaccinated, the higher the probability of us getting back to a sense of normalcy.

We have many places offering the vaccines in Miami Gardens — Jessie Trice Community Health System, Hard Rock Stadium and a lot of our churches continue to do so. We will continue to encourage everyone to take advantage of those opportunities so that we can get back to our normal way of living, and being able to openly interact and engage with friends, loved ones and family.

Stay Prepared
For the upcoming months, we’re asking everyone to stay prepared during the hurricane season. Pay close attention to the storm watches, updates for the National Hurricane Center and the local weather reports. Annually, the City ensures that its Emergency Response Team is in place and ready to respond and assist in the event of an emergency, but residents are strongly encouraged to ensure that they are also prepared and put things in order. We were caught off guard with the pandemic, but we’ll have warnings for hurricanes. So it is critical that our residents are prepared and stay vigilant.

Looking Forward
There are quite a few things on the horizon for Miami Gardens. We just opened our newest facility — the City of Miami Gardens Senior Family Center — on the 15th of July, and the Miami Dolphins opened their practice facility on July 20th. We’re reopening our parks, looking forward to Jazz in the Gardens returning next year, and there’ll a big push around FORMULA 1 racing taking place in Miami Gardens, which is going to put the City on a global stage.

In October we usually have our big Halloween Fright Night and we’re looking forward to bringing that back. We had about 10,000 people show up for that event in 2019. Of course, this year we’d want it to be smaller since COVID-19 is still present. We’re coming back, but we are doing so cautiously to protect everyone.

We’re excited about where we’re headed and what we’re doing, and we’re looking forward to continuously serving the people.
