Family and Legacy
I’m very proud to sit on this City Council. This is my second year on the Council, but we’re still fresh as a whole class. When I listen to the thoughts and ideas that my colleagues have about continuing to move this City forward, I’m excited and ready for the ride.

Work to be Done
We’re a City that’s growing. Miami Gardens is the largest African American city in Florida.

People of my generation and those who come after should continue to have the opportunity to build our families right here, where we grew up. It is important for all of us to become homeowners and stakeholders in this community. And, we welcome others to come and make their home here in a progressive African-American City.

Embracing Technology
When it comes to navigating the City, COVID-19 has pushed us into the realm of technology. Within our operations, we’ve strengthened our internet capabilities, making processes more user-friendly — from permitting, to applications, to licensing and more.

Further enhancements will be made even after COVID-19 to provide easier, faster service.

We’ve also leveraged online tools for meetings like crime watch groups and other organizations where residents can log in from their homes, phone or offices, and still be in touch with the community.

A Better Quality of Life
My personal passion is to make sure that we continue to advance the quality of life for our residents. At some point, we got tired of traveling to different cities to go grocery shopping or take care of our basic needs. Now that we have great amenities, like the Gardens Promenade, and a better quality of life, we also have a greater sense of pride.

We want to continue providing amenities and programs for our senior citizens as they age into their golden years. We want to make sure that we are providing our kids with the latest and greatest in technology, and giving them every opportunity to grow. And, for the middle aged group, they should be able to enjoy entertainment and dining within our City, using our trolley services or cycling. So I’ll say it again, I’m very excited about where Miami Gardens is going. I think we’re heading in the right direction.
