Over the last quarter, we continued our focus on bringing much-needed resources to every resident in our community.
In August, we partnered with Mount Hermon AME Church for a homebuyers’ workshop.
And, we sponsored a senior breakfast at Bunche Park for our residents to have an opportunity to engage with each other safely.
Additionally, I sponsored a resolution to celebrate Jamaica’s 60th year of independence in August 2022 in the City of Miami Gardens. Similar to the other cultural celebrations previously hosted by my office to recognize the diversity of the residents in Miami Gardens.
In September, we partnered with St. Thomas University and the Taking Innocence Project documentary team to educate women and young girls in our community on the dangers of human trafficking and to empower them.
We continued our efforts in November with the Special Games, which promoted diversity and inclusion for individuals with disabilities in our City. We were happy to host wheelchair basketball in Miami Gardens for the very first time.
We also announced the Weatherization Program to assist residents of Seat 3, in the Bunche Park and Rainbow Park communities, with making their homes more energy-efficient.
Over the last year, my focus has been on positively impacting all residents of Seat 3. We will continue to provide our constituents with access to their local government and updates through our monthly UNITEA Town Hall Meetings, which are held on the first Wednesday of every month.
Our ongoing offer of resources to families and residents will persist as long as COVID-19 does. We are also committed to offering support to businesses through contracting opportunities and other resources.
Despite the challenges of the pandemic, we have seen resilience in our community. We have seen businesses created, families strengthened, and through it all, we have made it to the end of another year.
I am wishing the residents of Miami Gardens a safe, healthy, and happy holiday season.
