Elect Robert Stephens | WelcomeStaying Connected

I’ve been finding ways to connect with residents in the midst of the COVID-19 era, primarily by way of drive-thru events. We’ve been consistent with our “Lunch On Us” initiative, which allows us to support local businesses and provide meals to residents for free. Additionally, we’ve been doing a number of Zoom meetings to remain connected with the community. No two days are the same in municipal government. One day you sit down to focus on developing ideas, and the next, you’re running around to events and grand openings supporting growth and development in our City.

A lot of what I do is aimed at providing transparency in the governmental process. We can’t do things the traditional way — in person. So I’ve been working diligently, along with my colleagues, to find ways to accomplish our goals while still adhering to the CDC guidelines and keeping the community safe.

I’m also very proud of the higher education initiative I’ve recently launched. It’s going to provide some relief to high school seniors who are graduating this year, and assist with their post-secondary education.

Moving Forward

I feel like I’ve made a splash in the lake, but I’m just getting started. The next step for me is to continue doing what the voters put me here to do: to provide life-sustaining resources, create policies that affect our quality of life, and most importantly, to serve them.

As we get back to some level of normalcy, I want to create opportunities for in-person conversations with my constituents, whether that’s a roundtable discussion or tea time in a resident’s backyard. I have to get to the people to actually address their issues.

We’re in really good shape in Miami Gardens. We’re hopefully coming down the homestretch, so let’s continue to adhere to the CDC guidelines. Maintain a safe social distance from others. Make sure your hands are washed and keep them out of your face.

Wear your face covering. But most importantly, consult with your primary physician and then get vaccinated when it becomes available to you. Do your research and anything else you need to do to feel comfortable with getting vaccinated, so that we can get through this together.
