Hispanic Heritage Month and Halloween:
Hispanic Heritage month has just ended, and I had a great time celebrating with Miramar residents of Hispanic and Latin descent at events such as “Miramar Latin Music Festival” at the Miramar Amphitheater and “Our Art, Our Power” which highlighted exchanges and contributions between Spain, Latin America and the United States brought to you by the Miramar Cultural Center. We will close October with our annual Halloween event on Sunday the 31st at River Run Park, 9400 Miramar Blvd, Miramar, FL 33025, from 6 pm to 9 pm.
Thanksgiving and PAL Golf Tournament:
As we head into the festivities that year-end brings, we are once again facing a different kind of holiday season due to the pandemic. I know we all are looking forward to a post-COVID world (I know I am), so I implore you to stay optimistic and as Thanksgiving approaches, let us get into a mindset of appreciation for life, for family and for friends. I also implore you to remain cognizant that even though there is light at the end of the tunnel, “we are all in this together” and still need to stay apart and stick to the CDC guidelines.
As a Miramar PAL board member, it brings me great pleasure to invite you to the 23rd Annual Golf Tournament benefiting the children enrolled in our Miramar PAL Program on Friday, November 12th, at the Bonaventure Golf Club, 200 Bonaventure Boulevard, Weston. Registration begins at 10 am. Please contact Ann Lee for information at 954-602-4783 or aelee@miramarPD.org.
For Thanksgiving this year, we will have a Drive-Thru Turkey Give-Away for Miramar residents at the Multi-Service Complex on Tuesday, November 9th. If you wish to receive a turkey, please call my office at 954-602-3154 for further details.
Tree Lighting at City Hall and Shirley Branca Park:
Every December residents look forward to our Annual Tree Lighting, and this year it will be just as spectacular. Residents love to come out to experience the colorful display of our beautiful Christmas Trees and lights that make the perfect backdrop for holiday photos. Please call my office at 954-602-3154 for further details.
Let me close by wishing you hope, positivity and joy for the upcoming holiday season. God Bless you all.
Commissioner Maxwell B. Chambers.
