Cheetah Recovering From Leg Fracture

Working closely with Zoo Miami Associate Veterinarian, Dr. Rodney Schnellbacher and the Animal Health team, Board Certified veterinary surgeons, Dr. Natalia Andrade and Dr. Robin Holtsinger from Miami Veterinary Specialists, performed the surgery that included the attachment of two metal plates to repair and stabilize the fracture. The surgery was successful, and Winston has since been recovering in a secluded area with a full leg cast. Yesterday, Winston was immobilized, and the cast removed so that the Animal Health team could closely evaluate the surgical site and ensure that healing was progressing normally.
