The Miami Jewish Film Festival (MJFF) proudly announces the program for its 28th edition, a dynamic hybrid of virtual and live events featuring 133 films. The Miami Beach Fire Department welcomes its newest member, the first ever search and rescue K-9 named Salsa! The three-year-old Labrador retriever is partnered with Firefighter Stephany Marcos, who has been with the Miami Beach Fire Department since April 2022.

The pair achieved certification as a Live Find K-9 Search Team earlier this year, which makes them a valued part of Florida Task Force 1, a specialized unit trained for critical search and rescue missions across the state and wherever they are needed.

Currently stationed at Miami Beach Fire Station 2, Salsa is adapting well to station life. Firefighter Marcos has introduced her furry partner to different environments to build resilience and adaptability — important qualities for high-stress search and rescue animals.

Tedward by Josh Pettinger is what you would get if you paused Clowes at ‘Lloyd Lewellyn’ and baked in the flat colors he mastered in Eightball, and carried forward that offbeat storytelling with a singular character. This isn’t to say Pettinger’s effort here is a carbon copy, this is to say he picked up the torch Clowes left behind and carried it upwards into new heights.

The artwork is phenomenal at every page turn and you really get a sense that Pettinger is engrossed in the work. There’s humor, suspense, crime, and romance all contained within this compilation of Tedward stories Pettinger self published over the course of a few years. All in all there are 9 stories in this collection, with a wonderful contribution from Simon Hanselmann, who very obviously understands the aloofness and sexual tension of the main protagonist.
