ArtSouth and Village hostMari Vizquerra exhibition

The Village of Palmetto Bay and ArtSouth will host the work of local artist Mari Vizquerra at Perrine Community House on Saturday, May 20, as part of their ongoing program of showcasing area artists. The title of the exhibition is “Layers of My Life, inspired by the moment.” The opening art reception runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Perrine Community House is located at 900 Perrine Ave. in Palmetto Bay. Vizquerra was born in Peru and spent her childhood in rural countryside areas. SFYS now accepting applications for 2023 Summer Music Academy

The Emmy and Gold Medal Award-winning South Florida Youth Symphony (SFYSmusic.org), one of the nation’s leading youth music organizations, still is accepting applications for its 26th annual Music Academy, at the Pawley Creative Arts Center on the Miami Dade College North Campus, 11380 NW 27 Ave. The popular summer program, which includes youngsters ages 3-18 years old, runs June 20-July 14, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Half day violin training sessions are available for youth ages 3-7. The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) announced $133 million in funding is available for broadband Internet projects in the second application cycle through the Broadband Opportunity Program. The program was created to expand broadband Internet service to unserved areas of this state, which will encourage job creation, capital investment and the strengthening and diversification of local economies.
