Miami Dolphins Celebrate 15 Years of the Dolphins Cancer Challenge with Another Record-Breaking Event

The Miami Dolphins hosted the 15th edition of the Dolphins Cancer Challenge (DCC) on Saturday, February 22, uniting with the South Florida community to raise funds for life-saving cancer research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of UHealth – the University of Miami Health System. As the NFL’s largest fundraising event, DCC XV united a record-breaking 7,300 participants and raised more than $14 million – surpassing last year’s record of $12 million raised, bringing the organization’s total contribution to Sylvester to nearly $90 million. Nicklaus Children’s Hospital has acquired Mozarc Medical’s Carpediem™ Cardio Renal Pediatric Dialysis Emergency Machine designed to support dialysis treatment of newborns with acute kidney injury and fluid overload. The hospital is the first in Florida to offer this new system designed to optimize care for the smallest patients. Created on a miniaturized platform, the device provides continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) for patients weighing between 2.5 and 10 kilograms. County Commission Postpones Waste-to-Energy Plant Decision, Explores New Alternatives

Wednesday, February 19, the County Commission discussed, the future of the county’s Waste-to-Energy plant. After lengthy discussion on Chairman Rodriguez’s proposal to expand site options to include the private sector, and after considering the administration’s recommendation, the decision on a future location was postponed for 120 days. A large number of Doral residents, along with local elected officials, attended the meeting to express their concerns and opposition to the potential construction of the incinerator within the City of Doral.
