Miami Lighthouse for the Blindhosts back-to-school event |
Miami Lighthouse for the Blind recently hosted a back-to-school event at Keys Gate Charter High to address the need for eye health equity. Students received eye screenings by Sight For Kids, a partnership between Johnson & Johnson Vision and Lions Clubs International Foundation. Comprehensive eye examinations and prescription glasses were provided by Florida Heiken Children’s Vision Program, a division of Miami Lighthouse for the Blind. Eye services were followed by a school supplies giveaway and celebration assembly program. Miami-Dade School Boardapproves 2023-24 budget |
The Miami-Dade School Board recently approved a budget of more than $7 billion for the 2023-24 fiscal year, focusing its expenses on prioritizing the mental health and emotional well-being of students, providing crucial services to students with disabilities, and ensuring school safety and the protection of pupils and teachers. The 2023-24 budget has been bolstered greatly by the infusion of more than $1 billion in federal stimulus funds, a response to the impact of the pandemic. 7th Annual Pink Walk with the Women’s Breast & Heart Initiative |
The Women’s Breast & Heart Initiative (WBHI)—a leader in disease prevention & early detection— returns with its 7th Annual Pink Walk—5K Run and Walk hosted by Miami Dade College-North Campus.
