How to Beat a Miami Traffic Ticket with Expert Help

    Miami Traffic Ticket

Traffic tickets in Miami often seem straightforward, but appearances can be deceiving. Navigating court procedures, local traffic laws, and essential deadlines requires specialized knowledge. A Miami traffic ticket lawyer possesses this expertise, understanding precisely how to approach your case and identify potential issues leading to ticket dismissal.

When aiming for dismissal, start by carefully reviewing your ticket. Even minor errors by the issuing officer, such as incorrect dates, inaccurate vehicle information, or unclear handwriting, can become crucial points in your defense. A seasoned Miami traffic ticket lawyer will meticulously inspect these details to strengthen your case.

Next, gather compelling evidence to support your argument. Photos demonstrating unclear signage, witness statements backing your claim, or proof of malfunctioning traffic devices can significantly reinforce your defense. Documenting every detail provides your lawyer the tools they need to construct a powerful dismissal argument.

Contacting a reputable ticket law firm is also a vital step. Firms specializing in traffic tickets can quickly evaluate your situation, advising you on the most effective strategies for dismissal. Common successful defenses include challenging the accuracy of radar or laser speed-detection devices, questioning an officer’s observational accuracy, and highlighting improperly marked or obscured road signs.

Additionally, attending a state-approved traffic school could potentially result in reduced penalties or dismissal. An experienced Miami traffic ticket lawyer can determine if traffic school applies to your specific situation and how best to incorporate this option into your overall defense strategy.

Ultimately, working with a specialized Miami traffic ticket lawyer ensures that you have knowledgeable guidance throughout the process, saving you from unnecessary stress and significantly enhancing your likelihood of dismissal. With professional support, addressing your traffic ticket becomes a manageable experience, enabling you to move forward confidently.

Actors’ Playhouse Dedicates the Dr. Lawrence and Barbara Stein Center for the Performing Arts at the Miracle Theatre

Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre is proud to announce the dedication of the Dr. Lawrence and Barbara Stein Center for the Performing Arts, honoring the extraordinary vision, leadership and generosity of the organization’s founders. This historic milestone celebrates the Steins’ lasting contributions to the performing arts in South Florida and their foundational role in shaping the company since its inception in 1988. This dedication honors the Steins within the Miracle Theatre, which remains the home of Actors’ Playhouse and continues to operate under its historic name.

For more than three decades, Dr. Lawrence and Barbara Stein have been passionate champions of live theatre and cultural access across Miami-Dade County. Their dedication has nurtured generations of families, artists and playwrights, helping to position the Miracle Theatre as a beloved cultural home in Coral Gables, a major Miami-Dade County Cultural Institution, and a designated Florida Presenting Cultural Organization.

Their vision was never clearer or more vital than in the early 1990s, when the historic Miracle Theatre, the crown jewel of Coral Gables’ Miracle Mile, was at risk of being sold and demolished to make way for big box retail. Refusing to let this architectural and cultural treasure disappear, the Steins led a bold campaign to save it. Under their leadership, Actors’ Playhouse forged a groundbreaking public-private partnership with the City of Coral Gables to acquire, restore and transform the space into a permanent home for the performing arts.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of the Steins and the success of a $10 million capital campaign led by Actors’ Playhouse backed by a community of supporters, the 1948 Art Deco movie palace was transformed into a vibrant, three-stage performing arts center. When the renovated theatre reopened in 1995 with a production of Man of La Mancha, it sparked a cultural renaissance in the heart of downtown Coral Gables. Today, the neighborhood is home to more than 100 restaurants, retailers, residences, a museum and art cinema, and over 150 multinational businesses.

This fall, Actors’ Playhouse will bring Man of La Mancha back to the stage to mark the theatre’s 30th anniversary and celebrate the full-circle moment of this new naming. The Steins’ belief that “no dream is impossible,” echoing the show’s iconic anthem “The Impossible Dream,” continues to inspire all who walk through the theatre’s doors.

“It is with sincere pride and privilege that we have worked alongside a community of talented individuals, supporters and patrons to make a difference through the power of live theatre,” said Dr. Lawrence and Barbara Stein. “We are grateful for the team effort that built this legacy and hope this honor inspires a new generation to pursue their dreams and contribute to a vibrant community.”

Today, the Miracle Theatre welcomes more than 150,000 patrons annually and remains a cornerstone of South Florida’s cultural scene. The naming of the Dr. Lawrence and Barbara Stein Center for the Performing Arts ensures that their legacy will continue to uplift audiences, artists and dreamers for generations to come.

A Gala Celebration will be held on Saturday, October 4 at the Miracle Theatre to honor the Steins and commemorate this milestone in the company’s history. For tickets and sponsorship opportunities, please contact Jackie Zucker, Actors’ Playhouse Development and Engagement Director, at jzucker@actorsplayhouse.org.

The future looks bright for Strive305, and its expanding podcast offerings are sure to continue capturing the hearts and minds of listeners across Miami-Dade County and beyond.

What Home Buyers and Sellers Need to Know This Summer

The world loves Miami. South Florida real estate continues to experience high demand both domestically and globally due to its unique lifestyle, culture, world-class beaches, fintech hub, nightlife, shopping, entertainment, and more.

Miami real estate is outperforming the state and nation in wealth migration, price appreciation, sales of homes priced at $1M and above, employment, and many other metrics. It is our market fundamentals that make us unique.

    Tips for Home Buyers

Local inventory is on the rise – that is great news for homebuyers as there are more options in our beautiful region to purchase. However, the inventory is still below pre-pandemic levels and needs to be increased, especially in key price points such as those below $1M.

As a home buyer, you will want access to the full range of opportunities, and our REALTOR® members can provide that – and more. To start, using a cooperative system called the Multiple Listing Service (or MLS), your REALTOR® can help you evaluate all active listings that meet your criteria, alert you to listings as soon as they come on the market, and provide data on recent sales to ensure that your offers are competitive.

Mortgage rates remain stubbornly high (near 7%), which puts a strain on affordability. Your REALTOR® with MIAMI Association of REALTORS® can reduce that rate by getting creative: accessing the 2-1 mortgage buydown program or seeking an assumable loan.

A REALTOR® is also essential if you are new to the region – they are experts on local neighborhoods tailored to your specific lifestyles and can orient you on where to find all the resources you need, both during the transaction and after closing. Want to know where to find information on amenities, utilities, hobbies, sports, zoning rules, contractors, landscapers, clubs, and more? REALTORS® are a wealth of knowledge. We continue to help you, your family, and friends years after a contract is signed because REALTORS® are the fabric of the South Florida community. We live here. We love this community. We are invested.

    Changes in the Condo Market

New state condominium regulations requiring inspections of older condominium buildings and adequate reserves for repairs went into effect this year. Condo laws and the market continue to evolve, and the MIAMI Association of REALTORS® and our REALTOR® members are at the forefront with the latest updates on condo laws, tools, and education to successfully navigate these transactions.

Despite all the changes, Miami condos continue to appreciate in value. Miami condo prices have increased by 123.6% from April 2015 to April 2025, rising from $199,000 to $445,000.

As a condo buyer, a MIAMI REALTOR® has the expertise to guide you through the due diligence process.  They understand the latest required forms, reports, disclosures, and critical legal and financial documents.  MIAMI REALTORS® has been a longtime advocate for greater transparency and accountability in condominiums, working with elected officials to establish a public-facing local database that provides access to key condo documents.

    Tips for Home Sellers

Miami real estate is a perennial leader in cash buyers and U.S. home price appreciation, which is incredible news for home sellers. Miami ended 2024 ranked No. 1 in the U.S. in home price appreciation, according to Cotality.

Miami single-family median prices have risen for 161 consecutive months (13.4 years), the longest-running streak on record. Condo median prices stayed even or increased in 159 of the last 167 months, a span that covers 13.9 years.

Living in Miami as a home seller, you have the advantage over other markets in that the world is your potential buyer. Consider that global buyers spent $3.1 billion on South Florida properties in 2024, and 10% of all U.S. global buyers purchased in South Florida. MIAMI REALTORS® can list your property on more websites and in front of more buyers in more countries.

When selling your home, it is imperative to price it correctly. The right price can make your home sell faster and prevent price cuts. The right price can spur multiple offers, and your odds of getting the best offer increase. The stats speak for themselves. The median price for a REALTOR® sold home nationally is $405,000, while a for-sale-by-owner sold home is $310,000, according to the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (NAR).

A MIAMI REALTOR® has the expert knowledge and experience to guide you on your home-buying or selling journey. Learn more at MIAMIRealtors.com.

Holy Cross Health Receives $5 Million Planned Gift to Heart & Vascular Care

Photo Credit: Pavel Bronard Caption: Chuck and Jackie Frasier

Grateful patients Chuck and Jackie Frasier include Holy Cross Health in estate plans

Holy Cross Health has been blessed to receive one of the single largest planned gifts in its 70-year history, a transformative contribution that will benefit the hospital and patients now and in the future. Philanthropists and grateful patients, Charles “Chuck” and Jacqueline “Jackie” Frasier, have named Holy Cross Health in their estate plans, committing nearly $5 million to heart and vascular care.

“Chuck and Jackie chose to include Holy Cross Health in their estate plan as a way to honor the exceptional high-quality care they experienced at the hospital,” said Laura Denoux, vice president and chief development officer at Holy Cross Health. “The Frasiers’ extraordinary planned gift reflects their belief in the mission of Holy Cross Health and a heartfelt desire to make a meaningful, lasting impact. Inspired by the compassionate care they received from their clinical teams, their generosity will help shape the future of our health system and extend healing to patients and families for generations to come.”

The Fort Lauderdale, Florida couple is known for their dedication as philanthropists and community leaders with a passion for education, innovation and service. Chuck, a proud Michigan State University alumnus and retired packaging industry entrepreneur, built a successful 50-year career founding and leading companies focused on engineering and logistics. Together with Jackie, they have championed causes that reflect their shared commitment to excellence, sustainability and giving back by supporting initiatives that create lasting impact in their local community and beyond.

Earlier this year, the couple also demonstrated their commitment with a generous $250,000 multi-year pledge further strengthening heart and vascular care at Holy Cross.

“Holy Cross Health is a special place with special people where we have always felt cared for and supported,” Chuck said. “Dr. Llanos, Dr. Anand and the entire cardiovascular team saved my life. My wife and I are forever grateful and knew we had to give back in a meaningful way.”

The couple has trusted Holy Cross Health’s physicians and clinical teams for many years, for everything from routine care to lifesaving interventions, including a transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). During their visits, they were inspired by the names of other generous donors displayed throughout the hospital. Now, their own names will join those donors who once inspired them with recognition on the main Philanthropy Gallery donor wall, as well as on the third floor of the Jim Moran Heart and Vascular Center.

“We’re very grateful to the Frasier family for this transformative gift to support the heart center of the future,” Holy Cross Health interventional cardiologist Alexander Llanos, M.D. and cardiac electrophysiologist Rishi Anand, M.D. said in a joint statement.

The Community Foundation of Broward Announces Two New Grants for Cancer Research, to Memorial Foundation and Nova Southeastern University, Totaling $900,000

Cancer patients in Broward County are gaining greater access to cutting-edge research and treatments thanks to new grants from the Community Foundation of Broward totaling $900,000. The grants were awarded to Memorial Foundation, Lung Cancer Biomarkers & Precision Therapy — $450,000 over three years ($150,000 per year); and Nova Southeastern University, Exosome-Based Immunotherapies for Melanoma — $450,000 over three years. The latest round of cancer-fighting grants is made possible by dedicated local philanthropists who partner with the Community Foundation to support innovative opportunities to make cancer research and patient support more accessible in Broward.

The Community Foundation aims to advance local, breakthrough cancer research that makes lifesaving clinical trials, precision medicine and targeted therapies accessible to Broward cancer patients. It also strives to enable accessibility to revolutionary discoveries in cancer therapy and provide support systems for all Broward cancer patients. It seeks to make Broward known for its innovative cancer research and to become a hub for ideas and collaborative cancer research.

The Community Foundation believes that every Broward County resident diagnosed with cancer should have the best treatment and support where they live. Many Broward residents, including lower-income neighborhoods with minority residents, face barriers like poverty, discrimination and systemic inequities, creating obstacles for care. The Foundation’s cancer grants aim to close health equity gaps by prioritizing inclusive care and ensuring that diverse populations are represented and supported throughout their cancer journey.

    • Memorial Foundation, Lung Cancer Biomarkers & Precision Therapy: This research aims to expand and enhance a biobank focused on lung cancer by collecting and analyzing matched tumor tissue, circulating tumor DNA, and liquid biopsy samples from 150 patients. Samples will be collected from a diverse patient pool who are both the early and advanced stage lung cancer. This project is a collaborative effort between the Memorial Cancer Institute and Florida Atlantic University’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine. FAU will provide the long-term biobank storage and infrastructure to support the samples integrity and accessibility for future research. This project will enable real-time discovery of predictive and prognostic biomarkers, allowing clinicians to tailor treatments based on tumor biology and resistance patterns. The principal investigator is Luis E. Raez, MD, FACP, FASCO, chief scientific officer and medical director at the Memorial Cancer Institute.
    • Nova Southeastern University (NSU), Exosome-based Immunotherapies for Melanoma: This research studies how exosomes from melanoma cells treated with their proprietary H1/H2 inhibitors affect the immune system, especially when combined with immunotherapies. The researchers will analyze whether the exosomes help immune cells recognize and destroy melanomas more effectively, as well as study the changes of RNA and protein molecules found in exosomes upon treatment of melanoma cells with H1/H2 inhibitors. This will allow for discoveries that can be leveraged to develop better melanoma treatments. The principal investigator is Dmitriy Minond, Ph.D., professor at the Barry and Judy Silverman College of Pharmacy at NSU. The co-investigator is Vladimir Beljanski, Ph.D., associate professor at Nova Southeastern University’s College of Allopathic Medicine.

The Deering Estate presents the Contemporary Currents 2025 exhibition series with the exhibition “Retorno” by Miquel Salom

The Deering Estate ‘Contemporary Currents’ series is an annual program that integrates contemporary art with collections and historic houses. Artists are selected from the roster of past and current Artists-in-Residence at the Deering Estate to display their work on the second floor of the Richmond Cottage for a three to six-month period.

For the upcoming exhibition, the Deering Estate will feature Retorno, a retrospective survey of 2018 Artist-in-Residence Miquel Salom’s ICTUM OLIM VI … tempus fugit…. The exhibit includes a series of wet plate collodion photographs produced in situ while documenting the natural and built environments of the Deering Estate. Retorno will showcase an expanded study of Salom’s earlier work alongside an assortment of ephemera that illustrate the artist’s technical process and traces key moments in a dynamic career.

Installed in The Garden Room, a historic space in the Richmond Cottage at the Deering Estate, Retorno will be on view from August 1 to October 31, 2025.

An opening reception and documentary screening will take place on Sunday, September 7th, from 3 pm to 5 pm. Tickets for the opening reception are free and can be accessed through Eventbrite.com.

    About the Artist:
Miquel Salom was born in the Mediterranean island of Mallorca in 1951. At the age of 14, his father gave him a Kodak Brownie Fiesta camera, and this changed his life igniting his lifelong artistic dedication to photography. Salom was largely self-taught and continues to publish, teach and lecture on photography. His work connects his personal observations with romantic narratives he has uncovered through his years of travel and exploration. He identifies as a visual storyteller through his mastery of the wet-plate collodion technique, a photographic process he became acquainted with through the work of Sally Mann. Salom has developed a signature 23-step process that allows him to create unique ambrotypes and tintypes of various subjects including the south Florida and Mallorcan landscapes, cityscapes and coastlines. His work joins contemporary artists exploring the revival of this alternative process and its unique handcrafted signature.

With an established international presence, Miquel Salom’s work has been exhibited in New York, Washington DC, New Mexico, Spain, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore and Mallorca. Locally, Salom has exhibited at the Coral Gables Museum, the University of Miami Art Gallery in Wynwood and the Miami Institute of Photography. Previously, Salom served as Visiting Artist of the Art & Art History Department at the University of Miami.
