Littles from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County Treated to Holiday Shopping Spree at Macy’s at Coral Square
Ana VeigaMilton, Cecil Milton, and the Milton family commit $2 million to transform the future of tigers in the wild and at Zoo Miami – a historic milestone for Zoo Miami Foundation
Zoo Miami and Zoo Miami Foundation are proud to announce a transformational $2 million gift from Ana VeigaMilton, Cecil Milton, and the Milton family—one of the top five largest gifts in the Zoo’s history—to support the creation of a groundbreaking new Sumatran tiger habitat, Cecil and Ana Milton Family Foundation Stripes of Sumatra. This visionary investment will not only redefine animal care and guest engagement at Zoo Miami but will also significantly advance global conservation efforts for one of the world’s most endangered big cats.
“This extraordinary gift is a powerful testament to the Milton family’s unwavering commitment to our community and to global conservation,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “Their generosity will not only elevate Zoo Miami as a leader in animal care and education, but will also help safeguard one of the planet’s most endangered species. We are deeply grateful for their vision and leadership, which will inspire millions of visitors and strengthen our mission to protect wildlife for future generations.”
The Milton family is no stranger to making a lasting impact at Zoo Miami. Their generosity through the José Milton Foundation has previously supported innovative initiatives, including the Animal Fun Factory, the first guest-interactive, multisensory enrichment center of its kind in an AZA (Association of Zoos and Aquariums) accredited zoo. This beloved experience allows guests and animals to connect in meaningful, joyful ways. They also support the Ron Magill Conservation Endowment that helps conserve wildlife, wild habitats and the people who are committed to careers in wildlife conservation.
“This gift represents the very best of what our community can achieve when passion and purpose come together,” said José Romano, President & CEO of Zoo Miami Foundation. “Ana and the Milton family are not only investing in a state-of-the-art habitat—they are investing in the future of a species on the brink. Their leadership will inspire countless families, support vital conservation work, and help ensure that the magic and majesty of tigers endure for generations to come.”
Now, the family is deepening their legacy with a bold commitment to help secure the future of Sumatran tigers, a species with fewer than 400 individuals remaining in the wild. Their extraordinary gift will fund the creation of a world-class habitat, scheduled to break ground in April 2026, designed to elevate standards of care, inspire public engagement, and spark global conservation action.
“We believe in the power of education, compassion, and connection,” said Ana VeigaMilton. “Zoo Miami has always been a place where my family and all families can learn about wildlife and the importance of protecting it and the environment. Our hope is that this habitat inspires visitors to care deeply about tigers and join us in ensuring they continue to thrive—in the wild and in our community.”
The new habitat will offer expansive, naturalistic spaces infused with educational and cultural elements, giving guests an immersive experience that deepens their understanding of tigers and the urgent need to protect them. It is an investment in hope, wonder, and the enduring connection between people and wildlife.
Zoo Miami Foundation extends its profound gratitude to Ana VeigaMilton and the entire Milton family for their leadership and generosity. Their commitment ensures that the roar of the tiger will continue to echo through Zoo Miami—and beyond—for generations to come.

A Message from Sheriff Rosie: Community, Gratitude, and the Gift of Connection
As your Sheriff, I want to take a moment to speak with you during this special time of year. Throughout the year, we hear a lot about challenges, crises, and calls for service. But the holidays gives us a time to appreciate our families, our friends, and the community we share.
No matter how you celebrate the season, I wish you health, joy, and real peace. This is a time when the world feels a little lighter. A little kinder. I hope you find a moment to slow down… to breathe… to create memories that stay with you long after the lights come down.
This season reminds us that our lives aren’t measured by deadlines or to-do lists. They’re measured by connection. By the families we’re born into and the families we choose. By the friends who became family and the strangers who became blessings. These moments ground us. Especially when life feels fast. Or heavy.
I also want to recognize the incredible people who serve this county every single day—our deputies, firefighters, EMTs, 911 call takers, and all our first responders. They are dedicated public servants. While many gather with loved ones, they are out there working through the holidays to keep us safe. I see them. I appreciate them. And I know our entire Miami-Dade community does too. Their work matters—not just today, but every day.
The holidays are a perfect time to wrap the year in gratitude. A thoughtful message goes a long way. Simply showing up for someone can be life-changing. If you can, reach out to someone who might need a little extra love. Not just with a text. Pick up the phone. Or better yet, if possible, sit down with them. We all carry our stories—our joys and our struggles. A small moment of presence can make a big difference.
As we close out this year and look ahead to 2026, I have one request: be kind. Be present. Be grateful. And please, stay safe. Safety is not the job of one person or one agency. It is a community commitment. Every resident plays a role. Look out for a neighbor. Join a neighborhood watch. Drive safely and soberly this season. Together—through strong partnership between law enforcement and the people we serve—we can make 2026 our safest year yet.
From my home to yours, I wish you a beautiful holiday season. Happy holidays, and Happy New Year. God bless you, and God bless Miami-Dade County.

2026 GMC Yukon 4WD Denali Ultimate is Fine Art
The 2026 Yukon 4WD Denali Ultimate is leveraging GMC’s strong foundation and sculpted it into something that doesn’t just carry families and pulls trailers. It carries status and intent.
At first glance, the Yukon still looks every bit the rugged participant in America’s auto history, with a bold grille, towering stance and that unmistakable GMC presence on the highway. But get closer and the Denali Ultimate reveals itself as something altogether more deliberate.
Under the hood sits GMC’s stalwart 6.2-liter V8, a powerplant that thrives in an industry that has downsized. With around 420 horsepower, this engine delivers effortless highway merges, confident overtakes and towing authority that makes everything from weekend toys to family campers feel light. Paired with a 10-speed automatic and four-wheel drive, the Denali Ultimate’s drivetrain is as smooth as it is purposeful.
This SUV’s confidence is matched by a well-sorted chassis. Magnetic Ride Control and available adaptive air suspension help tame its size, keeping the ride composed whether you’re cruising coastal roads or navigating city potholes. It delivers 14 miles per gallon in the city and 18 mpg on the highway.
The Denali Ultimate’s cabin is lush, anchored by expansive displays that blend infotainment and instrumentation into a single, coherent cockpit experience. A massive 16.8-inch touchscreen and a crisp digital gauge cluster redefine the command center, bringing smartphone-style connectivity to the Yukon.
What truly elevates the experience are the appointments: full-grain leather, refined trim materials, and optional executive second-row seating with heated, ventilated, and even massaging captain’s chairs. That’s not something you expect in a vehicle that can tow well over 8,000 pounds.
At more than $100,000, the Denali Ultimate’s technology isn’t just for show. GMC’s Super Cruise hands-free driving system brings sophisticated driver assistance to long highway stretches, easing fatigue on cross-country trips. Surround-view cameras, trailering aids and active safety tech give peace of mind that matches the Yukon’s robust performance. And when the sun dips low, animated LED lighting and some deep-tinted glass add both drama and practicality to evening drives.
This is a vehicle that is defining trends. The tech is functional, intuitive and integrated in a way that enhances everyday usability without overpowering the driver. Overall, the 2026 GMC Yukon 4WD Denali Ultimate was a fun drive that feels like it dominates the road. Give it a spin and tell me what you think.
