The Deering Estate Foundation will host its fifth annual “Mistletoe & Martinis” holiday event on Friday, Dec. 9, from 7:30 to 11 p.m., at Deering Estate, 16701 SW 72 Ave. in Palmetto Bay.

The sophisticated soirée is the estate’s signature holiday event. This year’s event will feature a 1920s theme to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the construction of the Stone House. For one night only, guests are invited to don period dress, stroll the grounds, and celebrate the season with live entertainment, designer-led holiday décor, and food and drinks, provided by some of Miami’s best restaurants, catering teams, and drink sponsors.

“This is one of our favorite events of the year and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome South Florida neighbors and friends to the beloved estate as we get in the yuletide spirit,” said Nina Zanella, executive director of the Deering Estate Foundation. “We are thrilled to gather together at the beautiful Deering Estate to toast the holiday season and celebrate the Stone House centennial in a way that is fun and festive for all.”

Co-chaired by Deering Estate board members and members of the 100 Ladies of Deering — Nancy Eggland, Becky Roper Matkov, Beth Person, Jerrod Sharp, and Jo Ann Szaro — this evening of merriment is all about community. All night long, guests will be able to feast on delicious bites from some of Miami’s best restaurants and caterers.

As they eat and drink, attendees can spend the evening mingling with family and friends, listening to live music from the FIU School of Music orchestra and students performing classical instrumental and jazz holiday classics and favorites, all while admiring the beautiful holiday lights and exploring the lavishly decorated Stone House and the Richmond Cottage.

This year, the Richmond Cottage dining room will be dressed and adorned with elegant holiday details and set in the fashion of a celebratory dinner to ring in the holiday season as it could have during the time of the Deering’s residence. The Stone House library will toast the rise of the Golden Age of cinema with accents and decor that capture the magic and splendor of vintage Hollywood.

Each room is thoughtfully designed and dressed by a cadre of award-winning professional interior designers, led by Deering Estate Designer in Residence, Alfredo Brito. The beautifully decorated event space is coordinated by Aloré Event Firm.

The annual silent auction that typically accompanies the event will be digital, via Bidding Owl at www.biddingowl.com/Auction/home.cfm?auctionID=29160&CFID=38078337&CFTOKEN=6246329179b74404-03E09F56-E0A7-0EA2-EAC75F0EF35E2107 and will open on Dec. 2, allowing both attendees and non-attendees to participate, with bids closing at 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 11.

The Deering Estate Foundation is especially grateful for the support of its valued event sponsors, including Ernst & Young, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., Orion Real Estate Group, Jo Szaro Family, The Keyes Company – Liede and Frank Devaldivielso, Capital One, Baptist Health, Chase Bank, Bill Hansen Catering & Lovables Catering, McLusky, McDonald & Hughes, Sandy McCarthy, Morris & Reynolds Insurance and George and Karen Hoffman, Amerant Bank, and The Berry Farm.

Tickets for Mistletoe & Martinis are $175 for Deering Estate members and $200 for non-members. Space is limited and tickets must be purchased in advance, either online at https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=E155795&id=49 or by calling 305-235-1668, ext. 263. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Deering Estate Foundation’s community, conservation and cultural programming. While this event is open to families of all ages, it is encouraged for guests 21-plus.

The Deering Estate embraces the season and continues its celebration of the Stone House’s 100th anniversary by taking us back to the glitz and glamour of the early 20th Century.

Taking cues from the cultural explosion of jazz and film that blossomed at the time, the interior decorations of the houses will celebrate the magnetism and excitement of the decade. The rooms of the Stone House and the Richmond Cottage will be decorated as they would have been during the 1920s.

The Deering Estate’s holiday decor includes over a dozen holiday trees, from the grand 17-foot tree in the great hall to others throughout the historic houses that will be lavishly decorated to accentuate the architectural details and fine furnishings of the historic structures.

The Historic Holiday Décor is on display daily, until Jan. 6, 2023, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. For more information on holiday events at the Deering Estate, visit the Deering Estate at deeringestate.org.
