First will be something called “Date Night at Thalatta,” scheduled for Friday, Feb. 13, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Taking place at the village’s Thalatta Estate, 17301 Old Cutler Rd., this event is open to adults only, 21 and older, according to Fanny Carmona, Parks and Recreation director.

“Date Night at Thalatta will be a fee-based activity, open to the public, offering couples a romantic venue to connect through art,” Carmona said. “From a blank canvas, the instructors will assist the couples with conceptual ideas in which the participants will together paint their masterpiece-to-be, and to take with them for the sharing of memories for years to come.”

Carmona said that examples of potential artwork themes range from landscapes, abstracts and cityscapes, to creative renderings of seafood, animals, iconic buildings and floral pieces.

“Couples will enjoy their art experience on the Thalatta Estate outdoor terrace overlooking the beautifully landscaped park and Biscayne Bay,” Carmona said. “We will secure the services of Painting with a Twist Inc., which will be responsible for the instruction and supplies. An approved caterer also will be procured to add an hors d’oeuvres and wine component, while couples are entertained with the making of their masterpieces.”

The fee for a two-hour painting session, hors d’oeuvres and wine will be $45 per person, covering all event costs including professional instruction and painting supplies. To register go online at www.paintingwithatwist.com/events/viewevent.aspx?eventID=367883.

“The celebration of love continues the following evening with an 18-and-over movie night at Ludovici Park, ‘Love is in the Park,’” Carmona said. “Couples will be encouraged to bring their blankets, lawn chairs and picnic baskets, while enjoying a romantic comedy under the stars viewed on a two-story tall inflatable movie screen.”

The movie will be chosen by a survey that is still underway. For information call 305-259- 1234 or visit www.palmettobay-fl.gov.
