PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE VILLAGE OF PALMETTO BAY IS SEEKING MEMBERS TO BE APPOINTED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL TO THE RESILIENCY COMMITTEE (“RC”).
Purpose and Mission: Pursuant to Ordinance 2022-05, the Village Council established a Resiliency Committee which shall be charged with: (1) identifying, studying, and recommending policies and programs that strengthen the Village’s sustainability and resiliency; and (2) developing a committee report that identifies short-term, medium-term, and long-term projects that will make the Village a more sustainable and resilient municipality by prioritizing natural and/or structural improvements within the Village.
Issues the committee shall address include but not be limited to (i) sea level rise; (ii) drinking water; (iii) canals; (iv) stormwater; (v) coastal ecology; (vi) architecture mitigation; (vii) septic to sewer; (viii) flood mitigation; (ix) natural habitats; and (x) preserving Biscayne Bay.
Membership and Term Limits: The committee shall consist of five (5) members, a non-voting Council Liaison and a non-voting Staff Liaison. The members shall have experience, training, or knowledge in environmental science, environmental education or other fields that lend themselves to the issues with which the Committee is charged. Appointees must be either residents of the Village, property owners in the Village, or business owners in the Village and cannot be members of any other Village Board, Committee, or Task Force. Each Councilmember shall appoint a member. The Committee shall meet every other month.
Pursuant to Section 2-59 of the Code of Ordinances, the terms of office of the members of the committee shall serve a two-year term once appointed and no committee member shall serve more than six consecutive years on the
