Miami-Dade School Board chair and District 6 representative Mari Tere Rojas celebrated the achievements of local student scholarship recipients during the Coral Gables Scholarship Reception held recently at the University of Miami.

The $3.25 million awards event allowed 24 unique, community-driven scholarship funds to support 202 students, highlighting the importance of community support in empowering students to pursue higher education.

“It is always a privilege to witness the dedication and hard work of our students,” Rojas said. “These scholarships represent more than just financial assistance; they are an investment in the future of our community. I am incredibly proud of these students and their commitment to academic excellence.”

Rojas also acknowledged the vital role of the Community Foundation in making these scholarships possible. Its ongoing support provides crucial resources that enable deserving students to access and succeed in higher education.

“The Coral Gables Community Foundation’s partnership is invaluable,” Rojas emphasized.

“Their commitment to our students goes above and beyond, and we are grateful for their continued collaboration in fostering educational opportunities.”

The scholarship recipients were recognized for their outstanding academic records, leadership skills, and commitment to community service. The event served as an inspiration, demonstrating the power of education and the importance of community collaboration in supporting student success.

With heartfelt appreciation, Rojas acknowledged the invaluable generosity of all community partners. She extended particular thanks to E. Roe Stamps IV and daughter Annie Stamps of The Stamps Family Charitable Foundation for millions of dollars in scholarships, and she also thanked event sponsor Williamson Cadillac, which allowed students and Miami-Dade families to commemorate this momentous occasion.
