Palmetto Bay has announced a village Multi-Use Trail & SMART Plan Connectivity Feasibility Study to identify and assess existing conditions for bicycle and pedestrian connectivity between four important streets and the South Dade Transitway and Old Cutler Road.
The study will consider multi-use pathways, sidewalks and/or protected or buffered bicycle lanes and will select two roadways to evaluate up to two alternatives. The final plan will include 15 percent design plans for up to two roadways connecting Old Cutler Trail and the South Dade Trail. This study is anticipated to be completed by November 2021.
Mayor Karyn Cunningham is asking residents to participate in the study by providing feedback via a survey.
“The village has received $80,000 from the TPO to conduct a study of ways to improve mobility, safety and accessibility to the SMART Plan’s South Dade Corridor Transitway and South Dade Trail from the Village of Palmetto Bay,” Mayor Cunningham said. “The study will provide us information on SW 144th, 152nd, 168th and 184th streets. This is a unique opportunity for the residents to help us choose two streets best suited for potential improvements to the sidewalks, bike paths and multiuse pathways. We are soliciting resident input to assess the types of improvements and which two roadways would be best suited for improvements.”
Residents can complete the survey by going to www.palmettobay-fl.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=3052. The survey closes on June 8.
