The Village of Palmetto Bay is seeking members to be appointed by the village council to the Heritage Committee for the village’s 20th anniversary.
The committee’s purpose is to bring awareness about the history and heritage of the Village of Palmetto Bay through events in celebration of the village’s 20th anniversary. Its mission is to explore the heritage and history of the village and advise on how best to incorporate this history and heritage into village events.
The Heritage Committee is expected to report its final recommendations to the village council no later than July 2022, on how the village should incorporate its history and heritage into the 20-year celebration.
The Heritage Committee will be made up of five village members, one appointed by each council member. Committee members may be a resident of the village; be employed within the village, or own a property or business located in the village.
A chair and secretary of the Heritage Committee will be elected by the committee members. Committee members cannot be current members of any advisory board, committee, or task force in the village.
The committee’s mandate shall end immediately following the members’ post celebration assessment meeting after the anniversary celebration to make observations and assess outcomes for the permanence of the event.
Requirements for consideration:
• Letter of intent stating your philosophy and why you wish to serve on this committee;
• Current resume;
• Proof of Village of Palmetto Bay residency (must be a resident of the village, or be employed within the village, or own a property or business within the village), and
• Three personal/professional references.
The Heritage Committee will meet on the call of the committee chair, but in any event shall by a majority vote set a schedule for meetings throughout the year.
All meetings of the Heritage Committee shall comply with the requirements of F.S. Chapter 119 (Public Records) and 286 (Sunshine) and shall be open to the public at all times, including conducting in accordance with Robert’s.
