Palmetto Bay resident Stanley Kowlessar Jr., decorated Marine Corps. veteran, was released on Bond March 31st, 2015 in his criminal case. As stated by Judge Christina Meranda at the Arthur Hearing (bond hearing), it is “Rare Occasions that I grant Bond for these allegations”. The judge did just that and granted bond in this case and appointed Vice Mayor John DuBois, a close family friend, as custodian of
Stanley Kowlessar Jr. Stanley Kowlessar Jr. served in the U.S. Marine corps with distinction and honor with duties ranging from the Presidential Protection detail for former President George W. Bush to ground combat in Iraq. Dozens of community leaders including fellow U.S. Marine Corps veterans with close personal relationships to Stanley Jr. appeared at the Arthur Hearing to testify on his behalf as character witnesses.
“As a mother of another former U.S. Marine with a son who suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD), our family stands together with Stanley Kowlessar Jr. and we are confident that his name and reputation will be cleared” said Olivia Hammer, mother of veteran who was unjustly detained in Mexico for four and a half months.
“I have been long time close friends with the Kowlessars (Stanley, his wife and his son, Stanley Jr.) and I know them well. After listening to all the testimony at the hearing, I was convinced that Stanley Jr. was innocent. I am proud to have been appointed custodian of Stanley Jr. and I look forward to seeing him exonerated from these false accusations” said John DuBois.
John DuBois has a long history of serving others. He has been on the board of directors of Camillus House for over a decade helping the homeless, the board of Camillus Health Concerns helping indigent, homeless, and low income individuals and families who receive free health care services, he regularly hosts fundraisers at his home for Educate Tomorrow to assist foster care children aging out of the system and is a significant supporter of the U.S. Military and veterans.
