The village’s annual Bridal Expo and other events dominate

There’s lots going on in the village this month, so here’s a heads-up for residents.

Bridal Expo… If you’re planning a wedding, sweet sixteen, or an anniversary celebration, you would probably want to take in this really special event. The Village’s 6th Annual Bridal Expo takes place on Sunday, Sept. 30 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Thalatta Estates Park located at 17301 Old Cutler Road. The theme is Where Dreams Begin… “The annual Palmetto Bay Bridal Expo attracts top notch vendors to meet all the needs for your next special occasion, while you enjoy the very picturesque Thalatta Estates with its beautiful views of the Biscayne Bay.”

There’ll be lots of the best professionals in the industry including event planners, photographers, florists, entertainers and caterers. You will receive complimentary valet services and free admission. “During the Expo, your taste buds will be tantalized with specialty food and beverage samples, enjoy live music and get the opportunity to explore all the property’s amenities and beauty that Thalatta Estate has to offer including; the renovated 1910s mansion, prep kitchen, bridal suite, manicured grounds, and open water views.” Please note, you need to RSVP at www.palmettobay-fl.gov by no later than Thursday, September 27th.

Seniors, take note! You’ll be singing, ‘Take me out to the ball game’ about this special event.

On Thursday, September 20th, the Village of Palmetto Bay will be hosting a “Seniors Night Out.” Residents aged 65+ are inviting to join the fun and watch The Miami Marlins take on the Cincinnati Reds at Marlins Park, live and in person, not just on TV. The game is at 7:15 p.m., The village’s IBUS departs promptly from Village Hall at 5:30 p.m. Each person will receive a complimentary ticket and $15 food voucher. Residents must be 65 years old and provide a photo ID. You need to RSVP by September 14. For info call 305-259-1234. If space permits tickets will be available for $10 to individuals under 65. This promises to be a really fun event for village seniors with camaraderie and sports excitement, so come out and root for our team.

Student Shutterbugs, (and their parents), you’ll be interested in this! The 2018 “Village of Parks” Student Photography Contest is now underway. Staffers running the contest say, “We want to see the ‘Village of Parks’ through your eyes.” The theme this time is Community, A Positive view on life in Palmetto Bay. The Deadline is September 28. There are cash prizes. This contest is open to High School Students residing in Palmetto Bay. Winners will be recognized during the Mayor’s State of the Village Address. Register at the village’s website, <www.palmettobay-fl.gov>. Don’t delay!

And don’t forget the Farmers Market… the next one is on September 16, from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Coral Reef Park, 7895 SW 152nd Street, Palmetto Bay, FL 33157.

Arts Festival… And a heads-up for a nearby event. There’ll be a first time Arts Festival at the Kendall United Methodist Church on October 6 that promises to be really nice. There’ll be fine arts and fine crafts, Volkswagen cars on display, food vendors, activities for kids, and lots more, all to raise funds to benefit programs and groups in the community and to bring folks together. The Church is located at 7600 SW 104th Street in Pinecrest. The art festival runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Don’t miss it!
